Mark Those Calendars

Charlie's -- my favorite coffee house in town -- has been kind enough to invite me to show my photographs there as part of an ongoing series featuring local artists. (Read more about Charlie's in the current issue of The Quarterly. Or better yet, just GO there and taste that heavenly Jameson Brown coffee! It's locally roasted and so addictive you'll either thank me or curse me for the introduction...)

My photo exhibit is called South Pas: Observed. It's going up in the next week, with a reception on October 1st from 4:00-6:00PM. (Long-time blog readers will recognize many of the shots!)

That's great! A great place to show your work Laurie. Charlie's is my favorite coffee shop too. Far superior to Kaldi's, with it's staff sadly afflicted with grad school pretensions and styrofoam cups.

I'm really looking forward to this! I so enjoy both your writing and your photography here and on Patch. There is so much arguing and yelling on the internet, I love the beauty, history, art and seeds for thought that you bring us.

I also want to know when I can purchase a print!

Thank you so very much, everyone. Michelle, your comment made me really happy. I, too, have been turned off and shut down a bit lately because of so much online bickering. Everywhere you look, from blogs to news sources to Facebook, people are screeching about something. It is sometimes too noisy to think, and in all the wordswordswordswordswords out there, it's easy to get lost or overwhelmed.

I've gotten several email messages from readers wondering why I haven't written more on this blog in the last weeks. I really appreciate the fact that some of you miss my longer blog posts!

Honestly, I've just been percolating some new ideas for Glimpses and researching a few cool stories. I figure, let the pictures talk until I have something worthwhile to say. I've heard one is worth a 1000 words, anyway :-)

Speaking of pictures, all of the prints in the Charlie's show will be available for purchase. Also, if any of you are interested in ANY of the photos here on Glimpses, just email me with what size you want and I'll give you a price. I really appreciate the interest.

I'm looking forward to seeing many of you at the reception. Yay!

Good job, Laurie!

Even when you write few words, they're better than most of the chatter all over the internet. I can't even look at comments on news stories anywhere without starting to hate the human race.
