The History of Glimpses
In December of 2007, after many years on the west side of Los Angeles (and at least a third of those years spent stuck in traffic on Pico Boulevard) my family settled into a happy little house in South Pasadena. This daily blog covered almost 5 years as I put down roots in my new home town -- and almost 5 more as I settled in and became a South Pas old-timer. Here it is...my time capsule of South Pasadena.

Thank you, Laurie. Yes, I did climb a palm tree like this when I was about six years old. The result was disastrous. I fell and landed on my back and after hanging myself on the clothesline and getting hit in the head with a baseball bat while playing catcher with my father, my mother thought I would never reach maturity. But here I am. Just not nearly as adventurous.
I always associate Mom with palm trees too. Whenever we would visit South Texas - I always knew we were getting close to her home town when I'd start seeing those tall palms in the distance.

Happy Birthday Dixie Jane!!! And I must add that I'm very impressed...I once climbed a deodor tree...rather high, but it was like climbing a spiral stair case...climbing a palm tree is rather ambitious!!! Unless you happen to be from the tropics and want a coconut!!!

How wonderful to read all the birthday greetings from you whom I feel I know. It was a lovely day filled with candy and flowers and daughters and a little sister who indulged me outrageously. There just aren't enough, "thank yous." I love you all dearly.
