My husband found this four leaf clover just in time for St. Patrick's Day, and that's no blarney. (Remind me to take him along the next time I check out the end of a rainbow.) Today, though, we can all lay claim to a little luck o' the Irish...
It seems that those lads and lasses are on to something. When the American Heart Association convened a few years ago, researchers revealed that Guinness might be just as effective as a daily aspirin for reducing blood clots that lead to heart attacks. The antioxidants in dark Irish stouts reduce cholesterol deposits on arterial walls. (Sorry, lager lovers, but the paler beers don't have the same power.) Now that should put a little zip in your bagpipes!
Happy St. Paddy's Day, everyone. Wear green and be safe.

Now Laurie, generally speaking, all beer falls into one of two categories - ale (fermented at warmer temperatures with bottom fermenting yeast) and lager (fermented at colder temperatures with top fermenting yeast). Stout, while incredibly dark and roasty, is in fact one of the many styles of ale.
But you are right, darker beers do pack more of an antioxidant punch.
Ben, my fine beer expert, thank you! What do you expect from a wine drinker? :-)
I shall correct my mistake right, now!
Now, WHERE did Jon find that???
I have a very old book with many four leaf clovers dried between the pages. It belonged to Jim's grandmother. So I knew that they do exist.
I always wear the necklace you gave me, Laurie, with one in it - on St Patrick's Day.
He found it on our street. Isn't that cool? The only other one I'd ever seen was the one in your necklace.
What a great find and post for today! Good stuff Guinness!
I can't believe he found it and his timing was perfect. I can hear the bagpipes playing and the wee leprechauns laughing, at his good fortune.
Erin go Bragh everyone!!!
With words on the screen, we can all sing along to the Irish classic.
When Irish Eyes are Smiling
Pick a Clover Here
When I was a kid, the lady next door told me if I found a four-leaf clover in her lawn, she'd buy me a toy. I spent hours looking, to no avail. Then I went to Ohio to visit my grandparents. They had nothing but four-leaf clovers in their back yard. I don't think you'll ever find a four-leaf in a three-leaf patch, but what do I know. I've wondered if that lady tortured me intentionally, or if she didn't think I'd take her up on it. When my dad was ready to start his career, he was offered a job in Bakersfield or Dublin, Ireland. He chose Bakersfield.
Pick Another
Look at the curtain that opens in the background!
Pick one more.
Nice! Happy St Patty's day!
Happy St. Patrick's Day to all of you out there. And a great shot of Jon holding the lucky find. Thanks for the music, Judy and Mister Earl.
LOVE all the songs, everyone!
Happy St. Patrick's Day to all of you fellow Irish folk, and the rest of you who wish you were Irish, even though everyone's Irish today.
Slainte!
What luck!
Speaking of everyone being Irish -- and of blarney -- according to the US Census Bureau, 34 million United States citizens claim to be of Irish ancestry. That's nearly ten times the entire population of Ireland today, which stands at only 3.9 million. Hmmmmm....
Jon laminated his four leaf clover for me and it's now in my wallet!
That's because everyone wants to be Irish, Laurie.
Blarney indeed!
Ha! Happy St. Paddy's Day to all.
Even with my eagle eyes, I've never found 4 leaf clover. Jon is so lucky! and so are you by association (and me too if you throw in the 7 degrees of separation theory.)
I recognized Jon's fingers immediately...lucky you!
Oh I'm safe alright. I have my guard leprechaun Nigel to keep all the men away. Nigel is dying of boredom around here.

Did y'all notice how Liberace is singing Four-Leaf Clover but the curtain opens to reveal a three-leaf shamrock?
I was reading about clover. Four-leafs are somewhat of an aberration, a mutant strain.
That's why I love those four leaf clovers, Earl. I'm a mutant strain!
I'll drink to that.
How did I miss my blog reading on St. Paddy's Day??? How many antioxidants are in Jameson's Irish Whiskey?
