Incongruous

I know littering is a problem in the Arroyo ... but throwing in an entire trash can?

Well you probably guess how I feel about this. I'd personally trash the culprits.

When I first saw it, I thought it was a toy bucket. There is something metaphorical about this shot but I'm too sleepy to figure out what it is. Compositionally - it's great. I like the blue/beige complimentary color theme too. I'm surprised that it is standing up and not on its side. Hmmmmm

Puzzling.

Trash can, no trash man?

Talking trash?

I got nothing.

It's a terrific and eerie landscape, with trashcan. Feel better.

If you look carefully between the graffiti on the side of the trash can, you'll see that it's really a recycling bin. How thoughtful for someone to leaving a recycling bin in the Arroyo for the homeless people to use so that they can be environmentally conscious, and that their recyclables don't end up in the Santa Monica Bay.

I like the way it's standing like a lonely sentinel... and how fitting that it's blue.

Ms. Laurie, you have a gift for seeing... and photographing... the irony and pathos of life on earth.

The concrete is rather painterly, like an arroyo should be (to a romantic) and I'm wondering who HLK Victim is. Maybe it's an art installation. Verrrry curious.

don't you realize how HARD it is to get rid of a trash can that is no longer needed? You can't throw it out!

actually, I suspect the can probably washed down there in a big rain runoff and perhaps someone stood it up at some point. Or water in it made it sink to the bottom of the Arroyo when it was full then the surrounding water washed away and there it stands!

Call PA - sounds like a job for Trash Tuesday superhero!

I love the colors of this photo. It looks like an amazing watercolor.

Hey folks,

I was really bummed out when I noticed this scene. I just couldn't figure out why someone would lob a trash bin into the Arroyo -- then again, I often don't understand the motivations of people.

Mr. E, you crack me up!

Tash, I agree. PA could do something with this.

Thanks for being here, everyone! My cold is turning out to be annoying but not brutal. Still, I'm less than sharp so I'll just say... until tomorrow!
