Mayberry Nouveau

Fashions change, but things never really change. I'll wager those grocery bags have all the ingredients for an apple pie.

This looks like a paparazzi photo of Drew Barrymore and Christian Slater leaving Pavilions after a mid-day shopping trip. Laurie should work for one of the tabloids. Your candids are great.

She has a touch of Gwen Steffani in there too. The cowboy boot/skirt thing reminds me of you and Dana in the early 90's. :~) I'm always a fan of capturing someone in mid-stride. It gives that sense of suspended animation.

Oh just noticed your title. YES YES!! Goober says "heh!"

Love this shot of daily life. I have an idea of America as one where no one ever walks, buy at the Mall, groceries into the car and then unload in the garage.

Apple pie as mother made. Yes please!

I think I saw that woman, or someone looking very much like her, the other day crossing the street where Mission turns toward Monterey. The woman I saw had a great outfit on. I wanted to tell her that her fashion sense was great, but knew she'd take it the wrong way. I was thinking how I appreciate fashion sense in others now more than ever. Then I wondered why I never use it on myself! Great photo of South Pas's celebrity couple.

Like Judy, the first thing I thought of when I saw this post was you and Dana in the 80s, creating a fashion trend in the clubs by wearing your cowboy boots with little summer dresses.

I'm pretty sure no Los Angelenas combined cowboy boots with skirts until you and Dana showed them how it's done!

They look like a cool couple.

Well, those boots were made for walking.

I'll take that wager.
If either one of them bakes an
Apple Pie, I'll fly to South Pas to eat
a piece. Nice Tats though.

Have a nice holiday weekend.

I'm guessing if it's apple pie, it's one of Alice B. Toklas' recipes. Not your mother's apple pie.

It's a beautiful photo of a beautiful couple.

Hate to say what's already been said, but I thought the same thing, too: that b!tch stole Laurie & Dana's LA/Texas 80s style!

I guess some people don't know Aunt Bea makes the pies in South Pas.

For some reason I find this post extremely funny. I have a feeling the crust would take a real spanking and the apples would be pure angst, but the juice, that would have just the right balance between sweet and tart.

And real nice tats.

I say that this cool couple is not into making apple pies. I would guess that in their sacks are a frozen pizza, French bread, wine and the makings for a salad. When you are that cute you don't need to know how to cook.

Dixie Jane: Does that apply to Laurie too?

Hi everyone,

Cool people make pies, too!

I have to laugh at the references to my late 80s/early 90s fashion sense. My roommate and I DID rock cowboy boots with dresses...

Db, it's funny you mention working for a tabloid. When I took this shot, I said "I feel like a paparazzi" because I used my monster zoom to get the shot.

Jilly, one of the things I love about South Pas is the pedestrian aspect. So much of Los Angeles is car/car/car/car/car.

Thanks for all of the comments everybody -- and the walk (in my boots) down memory lane Yak, Judy and Farmgirl.

Oh, and make sure to check out Mister E's very cool link!

Til tomorrow...
