Bob Grant of Altadena takes the pole position for today's South Pasadena Shopping Cart 500. Grant set a new course record of 4:47. The race, which begins today at 1:00 pm at Columbia and Fair Oaks, takes place every Memorial Day Weekend.
Isn't this the coolest/weirdest thing? I love being pleasantly surprised by something curious -- and love even more when I can manage to snap a picture of it.
In December of 2007, after many years on the west side of Los Angeles (and at least a third of those years spent stuck in traffic on Pico Boulevard) my family settled into a happy little house in South Pasadena. This daily blog covered almost 5 years as I put down roots in my new home town -- and almost 5 more as I settled in and became a South Pas old-timer. Here it is...my time capsule of South Pasadena.

Glen was a little late and a lot confused. The SoPas Memorial Day Parade is NOTHING like the Doo Dah Parade, despite the Wild Thyme advertisement.
