I do wander everywhere,
Swifter than the moon's sphere;
And I serve the fairy queen,
To dew her orbs upon the green.
The cowslips tall her pensioners be;
In their gold coats, spots you see;
Those be rubies, fairy favours,
In their freckles live our savours.
I must go seek some dew-drops here,
And hang a pearl in every cowslip's ear.

What a lovely theme ~ Pretty Things Week! And this is a beautiful way to wrap it up, Laurie. Have a gorgeous weekend...
Nice capture!
Ohhhh, Garfield Park! Didn't recognize it at first. Nice.
Just discovered your blog while searching for Kaldi's weekend hours (I'm up early). Now I'll probably visit your page regularly, and am inspired to take along my camera more often.

I'm in dreamland!!! Everything about it is heavenly.
The MND quote has special meaning for me. Older son was in the high school production 5 years ago and I saw every single performance. Thanks for a nostalgic moment.
Love the night shot...but what is a cowslips? I don't think I learned about that in my shakespeare class.
Kaori, a cowslip is a fragrant European yellow flower.
Thanks, Laurie for a beautiful week of pretty pictures.
Hi gang!
Welcome, Keith!
Kaori, I've never, to my knowledge, seen a cowslip. If The Hiker shows up today, I'll bet she could tell us about them. Does the Huntington have cowslips in the English gardens?
I remember cowslips because I was a dutiful English Lit major. Cowslips root in and transform country basics (i.e., cow shit), into lovely flowers.
Convergent evolution: In Asia, same metaphor, but they use the lotus blossom.
This is such a great photo. And one of my favorite plays. Oh, and I do love Smiles of a Summer Night.
Thought I'd pass along Conan O'Brien's tweet regarding the shut down of the highway:
They’ve closed a major freeway here in LA and are calling it “Carmageddon.” I would’ve called it “The Carshank Redemption."

Sound like a new summer cocktail.
You know I do love the Shakespeare quote!! And with such a perfect photo to accompany it!
Thanks, Hiker, for the info. on the flower!
Does a cow slip in cowslip?
How much slip does a cowslip slip, if a cowslip cow slips cows? HA HA That made entirely no sense.
cowslip = when a vegetarian acts on a craving for a hamburger.
what are cowslips?
never mind. i just read the hikers comment
I love your Pretty Things Week! What a great theme idea.
Thanks Dixie Jane and Karin. For some reason all I could imagine were the lips of cows. Great to know what they are :D
