Other City Dwellers

I followed a black and yellow butterfly down here the other day. It disappeared, but I saw a raccoon next who scampered across the path and into the brush, disrupting four or five wild parrots who flew away squawking. By the time I grabbed the camera, all still and quiet except for the sound of a dove who who-ing nearby.

I like this composition. Sounds like you had quite an adventure.

This could be a pathway here in Texas. We have yellow butterflys, too many racoons (they love my gargage) plenty of doves, but are missing wild parrots. Sometimes one just needs to wander down a dirt path.

Raccoons, that is. Spelling it right doesn't make me love them any more. Let us not forget possums. Ugly critters subject to rabies.

Mom said what I thought. Maybe even a horse and rider taking a leisurely stroll. I like these types of images with endless possibilities. It makes me wonder what's just around the bend. A cottontail? A deer? Oh wait, this isn't Texas. :)

So why aren't there wild parrots in Texas? Seems like the climate, at least in Austin, would be to their liking. I miss the parrots of Pasadena.

Some paths lead nowhere. Some paths lead right where they're predicted to go. Congratulations to the South Pasadena City Council, who set out on a path to remove police Chief Dan Watson for no reason other than they wanted to replace him with Sgt. Joe Payne. This was known as early as last December. After a nearly 9-month charade masquerading as an unbiased selection process, what do you know? Joe Payne was announced as police chief last night.

In support of this action, more animal feces was spewed by the City Council last night than you'll ever find out on these wonderful trails.

Is that Debs Park?

The truant teenagers in the bushes sharing a sixer of PBR remained hidden, hoping the annoying camera lady would leave their super secret ditch spot ASAP.

Laurie, I know variety is the something or other of life, but I could shoot, post, look at and enjoy photos like this every day.

Earl and dbdubya, I wonder if there are any snakes in that grass.

The snakes are indoors.

Welcome Mad Professah! This is on the trail that wanders along the Arroyo. It's near the little trail entrance over by the Ostrich Farm.
