Today is the first of the month, and that means it's Theme Day for participating City Daily Photo bloggers. This month's theme is Red -- a color which so often tell us to stop, but that in this contrary sign encourages us to go. (Good advice for spring.)

the Beguine.
Absolutely! Love it. And it's so optimistic as one would expect from you, dear Laurie.
Begin what?? ;)
I like the contradiction - it makes me a little confused, but that is the essence of that kind of double-communication. I like your photo much more than my own attempt to show the same contradiction today.
I'm with DW today. My immediate thought was Begin the Beguine. And you KNOW I love the RED sign. :)
Hilda - I had to look it up, despite knowing the aforementioned song.

Begin Freeway - Why we have so many highways honoring an Israeli prime minister, I'm not sure.
I think that sigh marks the start of the new "High-Speed Test Zone," a new program set up by the SPPD.
WV: scymnes - "I'm tired of all your scymnes!"
Only you would find this great sign LA! Love it.

It says Begin the 710. A surprise move by the City Council to back the long-awaited freeway.
Thanks dbdubya for Begin the Beguine and Judy for Jo Stafford's version."I'm Beginning to See the Light."
Interesting choice of crimson tide red & white from you today.
"All good writing is swimming under water and holding your breath."
I know it has absolutely nothing to do with your photo, but I just wanted to quote FSF and let you know I'm ahead.
Duck Bellis, they're going to throw rotten tomatoes at you, April Fools or not!
BeginAgain
Mother, may I? ;-)
As dbdubya said... my first thought also was the Beguine.
And like Hilda and Judy, I also realized that I had no idea what the "Beguine" meant.
Thanks for the info, Judy. And LA: I LOVE this witty shot, whether I know what it means or not!
Not to be confused with LET THERE BE GIN!! (I couldn't resist)
Okay, now I have Begin the Beguine stuck in my head!
Oops, I posted before I finished my thought.
Which now I've forgotten.
Thanks for the kind words - and for the great song!
You're hogging the nutroll.
