Face Time

I've mentioned this phenomenon before, but I just have to point out another example. Come on, dear readers ... tell me I'm not the only one who thinks this house looks like a face? A very surprised, possibly aghast face?

Or maybe I just love to anthropomorphize things.

That's so funny because I don't see a face when I first look at it. I think it's the extra windows on either side of the door that take that feeling away for me. But isn't it quaint? What style is that? Spanish usually doesn't have dormers does it? So quaint. I feel like there is some terrific food going on in that kitchen behind that stucco facade.

Well - I totally see a face. What a cool photo. The house is definitely shouting about something!!

I don't really see a face, but I think it would be more of a face if it were upside down. The gables would then be teeth.

It's a very cool photo because of the colors, how the grass looks washed out because of the sunlight.

Maybe it is a face, but only if cheeks are windows to the soul.

That is the oddest stucco job. Looks like a disease. Poor sick house

It's actually two faces. It's a cat sitting on top of a Golden Retriever's head.

Yep, it's very surprised that it's naked, without any landscaping! Poor embarrassed house!

this stucco job was a feature many years ago. I dislike it as well, but for some, it is the rage.

I keep thinking I'm a dentist while I look at this---and the front door is part of the mouth and I'm looking at a light colored uvula and the pitch is the nose I'm looking up...'

but the first thing I thought was...good Lord, plant something!

A work in progress. I hope.

A minimalist artist lives in this house, one who can't bear to conceal the wrought-iron window treatments with ordinary shrubbery.

If I lived there I would plant low-lying succulents in a rock garden below those windows. Wouldn't impress passers-by, but every time I entered or left the house I would look down and smile.

Call me crazy...but I see a bread crumb trail for Hansel and Gretel...go figure!!! They've been gone for so long the grass has died...I think I need that cup of coffee Judy always talks about!!!

Yakpate said...

Chieftess: Hmmmm, Hansel and Gretel? Well, now we can answer Judy's question about what's cookin' in that house!

It has a toothache. That's why it's aghast.

I see a jack-o-lantern.

I want it so I can plant flowers and bushes and give up character so it can be a happy face!

Well now that you mention it, it looks like nothing but a face :)

Ken is so sweet. But I'm afraid the house has two beady, shocked eyes, and a mouth that's saying "OOOO!"

Yakpate said...

OK, thanks to Altadenahiker I get it now... that little point on the roof line is the nose, right?

Dixie Jane said...

Beady eyes and snooty nose. I finally see it exclaiming, "OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO." And I am one who sees faces in nearly everything, especially shadows of inanimate objects. Is it a he or a she?

Laurie Allee said...

Ah, my little pareidoliasts, isn't it fun to find the face? Props to everyone who saw the beady eyes, roofline nose and screaming mouth. (I think it's more like "AGHHHHHHH" instead of "OOOOOOH," but I'm sure when the authorities haul all of us away for mental observation, we'll have plenty of time to argue about it in the rec room of our sanitarium...

I adore all of you, my silly ones. Until tomorrow. (I'm still not quite in the mood to be serious, as you'll see by the next post.) Ciao for now.

Oh, and Oleg, you cracked me up.

Great post as for me. I'd like to read more about that topic. Thanx for posting that material.
