I love the stretch of Hawthorne that runs along the train tracks. Most of the time it's just a quiet, small town road. At sunset, however, it transforms into a lacy study of color and light. Just look at the leafy silhouettes, the relics of our wired world and that MGM technicolor backdrop of a sky!
I know, I know. They're just trees, telephone poles and clouds. (But aren't they grand?)

Beautiful and lovely shot !!Nice Post ..Unseen Rajasthan
A magnificient VIEW of the sky. Hmmmm...,where have I seen this before??
I like this angle with the light and fading poles.
Oh yes!! I love the perspective and the natural framing of the shot with the leaves. The lines of the telephone wires pull our eye from front to back!! WOW - that's some kinda color.
Anything looks good backed up to a gorgeous pink sky!
Where is Hawthorne in relation to South Pas? I ask because my fanciful imagination sees a vortex in this shot. The diagonal lines of the telephone wires and the diagonal lines of the white streaks between the clouds seem to meet in a white glow... and this MUST be above South Pas, which is the only SoCal city I know where there seems to be a vortex of spiritual, natural and artistic energies.
Well, through LA's camera lens, anyway.
Judy: Is there some kind of natural law that creates diagonal lines? Since reading your comments on LA's photos, I see them everywhere!
Love the diagonals! It's creates movement and excitement - such a great juxtaposition in a landscape, which usually is sleepy with luxurious horizontals.
Last nights sunset was magnificent. I'm so glad you captured it!
Hawthorne is a street in the southwest portion of the city. It runs east/west and parallel to the Gold Line light rail tracks for several blocks. It apparently is also a window to spectacular sunsets.
yak---there is also a section of LA named Hawthorne, but the Hawthorne of which she speaks is in fact, a road. Small little thing that runs along the Gold line and does seem to have a nice view
I stand educated! Thanks, dbdubya and Trish!
There are beautiful pieces of art everywhere in our lives. Laurie, you do such a wonderful job in capturing these views for all of us to enjoy.
Diagonals ... perspective! Our life is not 2 dimensional.
There is purple in that sky. How did you do that?
How great that we're clouds again!
Thanks, everyone!
Birdman, your avatar is great!
Til next time, gang...
Yup, it is grand, a luscious contrast of many elements, color, light, texture, etc...
Beautiful shot :)
