Dressed Down
I spotted this gorgeous candy-apple confection the other day. But where are the hubcaps? It's like a great dress with no shoes! Still, the old girl is fetching in her bare feet...

Cool car
I am totally frustrated because I can't tell for sure what it is. Catalina??
wf: gonchipp- the condition of vintage cars when they have no hubcaps
WOW... you included those diagonal lines for Judy!
Cany apple red. Makes my heart go pitty pat! We must know what make this is. I thought Impala but I see that's wrong. Judy may have it.

PS and when you get "on up there" the wheels start to fall off.......sigh.
That appears to be a 1961 Oldsmobile. It's seen better days, but it's still a beauty.
It must be summer still...
Drop a post-it on the car. There's a hub cap shop on Walnut near Hill
What a beauty. I think my family could live comfortably in such a spacious ride.
What Batman drove when he was just slummin' with us common folk...
She's a little dinged up but still a good runner.
Still got the old narrow white walls. Would be interesting to see the interior. I can't quite figure out if 61 is the right year. I know I used to drag race against a similar car in my youth. I will not say who won, suffice to say I won some and he won some.
I drove a 1957 Chevy, 2 door hardtop, hurst shifter, 327 with three deuces for the power plant. Thankfully I'm still alive and not in trouble. It would be fun to race again. Not sure I could still speed shift.
I'm guessing it's about a '61, DD. I had a '61 Chevy Impala. Could be anywhere from a '59 to
'63. It's somewhere in that area of cars with lots of chrome and fins.
I think you're right about the era, DBW. I've been googling GM cars from '59 - '61 and can't find an exact match yet.
1960 Bonneville--basic lead courtesy of my wife. I also asked Batman and he confirmed it...
Batman and your wife are correct, Anton. I've confirmed it's a '60 Pontiac. My Dad had a '62 and '63 Pontiac, both of which had bulbous noses. Without one, it looked like an Olds to me. And, the letters on the hood match the number for Oldsmobile (at least the ones that are still there). Perhaps this is an early hybrid? Sort of like the old Johnnie Cash song about making a car from parts when he was working in a car factory.
"One Piece at a Time" was the 1976 Johnny Cash song in which he sings about a '49, '50, '51 etc Cadillac he makes while working on a Detroit assembly line.
DB, even though the resolution doesn't allow us to see them clearly, the hood letters actually fit the P O N T I A C lettering distribution. The angle of the hood makes the nearer letters seem far apart enough to be missing letters from age.
Once again, Anton is correct. It looks like the letters may have been painted over during a visit to Earl Scheib. "I'll paint any car for $29.95" I actually got an Earl Scheib $29.95 paint job on my '61 Chevy. It was originally white, and I had it painted turquoise. It was known around town as the Turquoise Turd. Problem was if a bird dropped a load and I didn't get it cleaned off real quick, the Scheib paint came off with it. So my car ended being turquoise with white polka dots.
Wow, you guys rock!
Welcome Mo!
DB, I posted a YouTube link to that Cash song on one of my old car posts. It cracked me up.
Thank you (and Batman) for letting me know the make of this baby. I just love that color red. Sigh.
See you tomorrow!
