For those of you who don't know about South Pasadena's dirigible history, check out this post. Everyone thinks the technological advancements of our generation would make Victorian heads spin. Sure, we've got supercomputers in our phones and cars that go from zero to sixty in less time than it takes to put away our supercomputer phones...
Simpler times, when you waited on a letter for a week, as opposed to the instantaneous text on a phone that is also a camera, GPS system and tv. Aaaaah! Summertime. I love it.
Is it just me, or does everyone get excited when they see a blimp? There is something so science fiction about them -- the 19th century view of the future, I guess. I can imagine people in top hats sitting in the bottom of the thing, looking at the earth below through telescoping, brass telescopes. I guess the giant FARMERS brand detracts from that fantasy, but you guys get the idea.
In December of 2007, after many years on the west side of Los Angeles (and at least a third of those years spent stuck in traffic on Pico Boulevard) my family settled into a happy little house in South Pasadena. This daily blog covered almost 5 years as I put down roots in my new home town -- and almost 5 more as I settled in and became a South Pas old-timer. Here it is...my time capsule of South Pasadena.
