Want to add for your readers that I had the privilege of attending South Pasadena's Crunch-Time Party last night at which Laurie Allee received an "Image Award" from the mayor for enhancing South Pasadena's image. That, of course, is not Laurie's purpose in doing this blog, it's just the natural result of the gifts this gracious and beautiful woman has, and the time, effort, and care she puts into everything she does. Thank you my wonderful friend (even if Karin does tower over you.)
WV: ditlygin. No, I did not have any ditlygin last night and that is not why I'm up so early.
When I was in college in the early 7o's (yikes, I'm old!) the yellow more common ones were everywhere. My best friend said they drove her crazy, so two college pals and I deluged her personal stuff with them. We stuck them on the back of all of the bathroom stalls, in her drawers (even in the inside of some of her underwear). It took her several days to find all of them. :)
I can't comment on this, "whachamacallit" except to say that he/she seems to be in a stupor. but I can comment on Mister Earl's comment. Since Jon and Little Bit have continuted the So. Pas. virus Laurie had to attend her award ceremony alone. She said that she wished I could be there to go with her. You don't know how I ached to be able to do just that. I am so proud of my talented daughter.
It was a really cool experience, and the award is pretty! Thanks for the kind words, Earl. And thanks for being there. It was so great to hang out with you while my poor, feverish family sent me text messages!
The Crunch Party is a really fun event. I'm going back next year just to help with the fundraising and eat the good food!
I'm so glad you were able to go an receive the well deserved Image Award, Laurie. It's a shame that Jon and Lil Bit couldn't join you. the Chieftess and I also regret that we couldn't make the trip south. The Crunch Party is one of the fun events every year, and it supports a good cause.
WV: inslyn - what this happy guy took just before the photo was taken.
I can't wait to see the float. In its bare bones form, it's hard to envision the finished product. I always gasp when I see all those flowers turned into works of art. Who in the world came up with the idea, anyway? It's great!
In December of 2007, after many years on the west side of Los Angeles (and at least a third of those years spent stuck in traffic on Pico Boulevard) my family settled into a happy little house in South Pasadena. This daily blog covered almost 5 years as I put down roots in my new home town -- and almost 5 more as I settled in and became a South Pas old-timer. Here it is...my time capsule of South Pasadena.

Thank you Charlie's Coffee House for hosting my photo exhibit, South Pas: Observed. From October 2011 through January 2012 my pictures graced the walls of the best place in town to get a cup of coffee!

Hey, look what pop rocks do in your mouth when you mix them with soda!
Foul-mouthed little guy.
