The Icing on the Cake...

This view from Raymond Hill is the gorgeous result of last week's storms. We don't normally see snow this close to us.

(Want to get even closer? Go over to Altadenahiker and check out her vantage point. And Ben over at the sky is big in pasadena has yet another view. And wouldn't you know it? So does Tash at Palos Verdes Daily Photo. And so does East of Allen! And Altadena Daily Photo! This has turned into a local Theme Day!)

Wow, you've captured perfectly what Southern California looks like on the day after a winter storm. On a day like yesterday there are very few places in the world that can rival what we have right here. Great colors in the buildings, the mountains, and sky.

Fantastic photos on yours and the mentioned blogs showing the effect of storm and the resulting unsual snow in the far. It reminds me of some summerholidays in Austria. Often is new-snow seen as powder at the mountains after rain/snow and not so hot weather. If you are not used to this it is a fascinating experience.

Nice, Laurie. I was in Fullerton yesterday and you can see some of the mountains east of here that are really white. I guess we'll get even more by the end of the week.

Hi Laurie. You are so right about the aftermath of storms. We do get some beautifuly skies in the wake of all that rain. I love your "icing on the cake" photo. I haven't been far enough out yet to see if we can see snow on our surrounding mountains.

Super cool! I LOVE the BIG view esp. with the title! I've been expecting it too be a local theme day, but underestimated the variety of viewpoints. Father Adam at Monastery Daily (http://monasterydailyphoto.blogspot.com/2010/01/oranges-and-snow-after-storm.html) recently moved back to SoCal (Redlands way??), just in time to join the fun. Thanks for linking us all together.

It has been so much fun comparing all of our shots today. (Be sure to look back at my post -- I added a few more names tonight!) I wrote over at East of Allen that this has been quite a collective unconscious/great-minds-think-alike day!

Thanks, everyone. And Leslie, as always, be my guest. Paint away. :-)

Til tomorrow, everyone...
