Oh this certainly has that film noir feel. Maybe the private detective's office is up that flight of stairs and he's working late on a case, with an ashtray full of unfiltered Camel butts, not to mention the one dangling from his mouth. His girl Friday, Louise is working over time in her wool straight skirt, seamed hose and pompadour hairdo, hoping to make a little extra money to feed the baby at home. She has an understanding babysitter who is willing to stay extra hours so she can work.
Flo's Beauty Shoppe. There is no identifying sign for Flo's because she does stuff on the cheap. There are those old fashioned hair dryers (like football helmets) around and various bottles of bleach and jars of goo. For a vintage, "do" and the latest gossip, visit Flo's.....up the stairs.
The stairway leads to the office where Glimpses of South Pasadena is produced, a room with a couple of typists and a linotype operator, all working away as the editor seeks inspiration from the dewy prints still wet from their recent bath in the darkroom tub.

This daily blog covered almost 5 years as I put down roots in my new home town -- and almost 5 more as I settled in and became a South Pas old-timer. Here it is...my time capsule of South Pasadena.

At the top of the stairs, a sign: "Wished Granted. Open door, and move into the light. Be careful what you wish for."
An apartment in the past.

A video artist is up there recording people who pick up pennies.
A trail of more pennies leading you a room filled with old heirlooms and forgotten treasures :)
You guys are wonderful and hilarious! I love these.
Til tomorrow, gang!
