Mister Earl took em all !! I'll just ditto him and say that is one cool house. Are you sure it's real and you didn't fiddle in Photoshop? Oh I forgot, you live in LA. It's real. V
Oooooooo! Absolutely two of my favorite colors, especially when juxtaposed! And they say to me Buena Vista Social Club's "Candela" (Ay Candela, Candela, Candela me quemo ae!) Mr. Earl, you can paint my bedroom anytime!
I like Yak's description and Ray Jay's name of the group: The Aristocrats. I've seen them but not in a garage or in tuxedos. In between numbers they swing on old tires. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
Aristocrats?? Swinging on tires?? Have I missed something in popular culture? Yellow Submarine is what first came to my mind, but it seems that we are getting into Cirque du Soleil territory.
You have all outdone yourselves today. The links, the music, the lyrics, the reference to The Aristocrats ... candy for this blogger's brain! (K, I laughed out loud at Psycho Killer by Talking Heads.)
I'm not sure what I imagined when I first saw this garage. But I'll never look at it the same way again. Thanks, everybody! Until tomorrow...
My word verification for this entry is evulva. I thought you would appreciate that. Love the Laker's house. Frankly, I love all the photos. The strawberries are awesome, as your sweet daughter pointed out. They look like props in a Martha Stewart segment on the Today Show. Thanks for sharing your art and your wonderful eye. (...come visit us...) What? I didn't say anything... ;-)
Lee! I am so happy to see you here. You know, you were always an inspiration as a photographer and a writer. We must get our families together sometime soon and catch up.
In December of 2007, after many years on the west side of Los Angeles (and at least a third of those years spent stuck in traffic on Pico Boulevard) my family settled into a happy little house in South Pasadena. This daily blog covered almost 5 years as I put down roots in my new home town -- and almost 5 more as I settled in and became a South Pas old-timer. Here it is...my time capsule of South Pasadena.

Thank you Charlie's Coffee House for hosting my photo exhibit, South Pas: Observed. From October 2011 through January 2012 my pictures graced the walls of the best place in town to get a cup of coffee!

70s flower power!
Faaantastic! Thought I'm getting cross-eyed staring at it ;)
Deep Purple, Yellow Submarine, Purple Haze, (Not) Mellow Yellow... you get the picture.
In the late 1960s, based on a photo in a magazine, I painted my bedroom those exact shades. One wall was purple, the other three that intense yellow.
Reggae
I think a grunge band would fit in perfectly.
The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain

Someone presses a door genie...
The purple door slowly opens...
And inside the garage a group of musicians in tuxedoes plays chamber music.
Just when I was coming around to the idea of BW. Pow! Socko!
Mister Early did take them all!
Art Rock.
Fantastic colors. World music would include samba!
Laurie,
I think we just lost Wayne to color. Let's wait a while and catch him nodding on the job.

I'm thinking something by Prince...actually, maybe it's Prince and his band in the garage???
I'm hearing "Talking Heads."
"Psycho Killer" to be specific.
Digital pop.
Temple City Kazoo Orchestra

The Chieftess picked Prince, me too. The colors also scream Chicano Rap!

Oh, and Pasadena Adjacent -- you win!
Great colours !
Thanks Babzy!
If the "Aristocrats" were playing inside, the door should be blue. And, D. J., in some versions they do swing from tires--among other things.
No sports fans, eh? C'mon, now, those are LAKERS COLORS!
Which means inside, there's a guy playing the first few bars of "Benny and the Jets" on an organ, over and over and over again ...
