The Farmers Market

The South Pasadena Farmer's Market offers its festive carnival vibe every Thursday afternoon into evening. It provides a lush selection of locally grown produce and flowers, cool handmade goodies and a staggering selection of prepared food from local and regional eateries.

It's also a simply awesome place to watch people. These two cast a megawatt glow over the place yesterday. Love is grand.

Does the sign in the back say they are grilling Brats? Like mean little kids?

I can hear the sizzle! Isn't she a pretty thing!

Yes! I must agree that a marketplace is a great place to watch people.

Great capture, Laurie. Your froze that moment that's most telling.

Goodness me, I've heard of Brat Camps but grilling them - surely that's a little bit much!

Jim's comments always crack me up!

What I like about the photo are the profiles. The repetition of the three women looking left, and the guy on the bottom right looking the other way. Neat!

They are in their own little world aren't they? Nice one Laurie!

You really caught the mood there, Laurie. And I like the choice of b&w.

Meanwhile the guy on the right & the girl on the left display a sample of what it means to be outta love - going their separate ways & no smiles.

A great pic capturing symbols of what it means to be in/out of "love."

L, another great bw. You definitely see thru your cam clearer in b&w.

I love the shot, especially in B&W. We have a market place similar up here in Salem, one on Wednesday, and one on the weekends. It's great to people watch. Great post as always.

I do not believe that the couple is interested by the market

Jim and Sally and Bergson's comment are so funny!

I would tell the guy, "Dude, look to your left. THAT is what this chick is going to look like in 30 years. Can you handle it? If so, this is true love."

That gal to the left seems like it must be the teen's mom, their noses, hair and posture are so similar. I wonder if Mr. Wonderful's long board will carry the two of them off into the sunset. Truly a WONDERFUL image, Laurie. Kudos!

They are so good looking! I love the others in the background & the skateboard. Great people shot - the B&W really pulls the viewer to focus on the people.

Not your ordinary market photo and that's what makes it so interesting. It takes a while to get your eyes off the couple and explore what is going on around them.

Nice catch of young love. Good choice to show us in Black and white.

Typical of young love: the girl is looking deeply in his eyes, hers hypnotized by her love.
He meanwhile is looking away,
over her shoulder,
to his next lovely.

Now don't be crying on my shoulder,
and telling me that love is grand,
and before I'm out of sight, dear
Then be loving another woman

Laurie, really a fab pic. Young lady, you got yourself a career!

Hello kids,

I was wondering who among you would comment on the Grilling Brats sign. I thought it was really hilarious, too. Big high fives to my wonderful smart aleck friends!

Thanks to all of you for the truly wonderful and supportive comments. I'm glad you will indulge me in my love of black and white photography. I'm still learning about the differences between shooting digital vs. my old familiar film. Black and white has always been my favorite way to shoot people. (Wait... that didn't sound right...)

Thanks again, everyone.

You have to look at people in black and white so you can know which ones to shoot! ;-)

In the photo, it looks like the girl may not be looking into his eyes. She may be looking off to the right, as is the woman on the left. Wonder what they're looking at...

Bergson's got it right!

Ooh, it's a hot shot, Laurie.

Your shot of them turned out SO much better than mine!! That is awesome!

Ah, yes! Grilled brats! W.C. Fields would approve!

The young man's testosterone meter must be over 1,000! And who's to blame him? What a pretty young woman!

Absolutely splendid shot on many levels. The black and white is perfect for this image. "Louis" thinks it would only be half as powerful in color.

Lovely photo! They look cute. Look at her eyes how she gazed at his love. Nice shot!

Nice street shot, they are certainly gazing into each others eyes!
