Look Up: (#3)

At some point telephone poles will become as obsolete as Victrolas, dictophones and typewriters. Sure, it will be nice not having to worry about downed power lines in storms, but underground cables and wifi hubs just don't have the romance of these wonderful, old relics.

It's Look Up Week this week here at Glimpses! Join me as I point my camera toward the sky.

Love your "look up" theme this week! Love all the shots so far, and especially this one.

Such a noir shot. Love it.

From here they look like measures of music.

Given all the opposition to cell phone masts these days, do you think these would ever be allowed now?

I know I have mentioned this before, but those tall skinny palm trees remind me of deep South Texas where I grew up, called The Rio Grande Valley, bordering Mexico. Most folks don't think of Texas as having tall palm trees but it is true. My affection for tree climbing led me to believe I could climb one of these. Wrong! Splat! On my back. My mother was horrified. I was lucky that the lasting effect was not worse.

I can do without these old relics!!! The main street that we live off up here is "Old Mammoth Road" ...and true to it's name, it winds through the oldest residential area up here...complete with all kinds of wires criss crossing above as you drive up the road!!! During our last "big" storm a power pole broke in half...the immediate neighborhood was without power for 3 days...we were out of power for 12-15 hours!!!

I thought of South Texas too. I love this so much. Interesting that there are no palms on the right side. ;)
