Who me? Jealous?

One of these days I'll discuss the wonders of Great Harvest Bread Company -- although, someone with a wheat allergy reviewing a bakery is kind of like an alcoholic reviewing a bar -- but I'm too exhausted to discuss much of anything since I've been sick for two weeks and I am starting to feel like one of those characters in a Victorian novel. You know the ones: wrapped up in a blanket, stretched out in a wicker chaise lounge on a sun porch, meekly coughing into a lace hanky. Well, actually, I'm about as meek as a rabid armadillo and I'm not coughing into a lace hanky, I'm hacking into enough tissues to send a team of angry environmentalists over here to admonish me for depleting all those trees in the rain forest. My neighbor said she found out that strep is going around South Pas. I think I managed to get it on top of the cold I caught from Little Bit and now it is time for a throat culture, a large vat of penicillin and possibly a sledgehammer to put me out of my misery.

It's clear that, unlike your cranky blogger, the lovely women in this photograph were feeling healthy and happy, enjoying Sunday's Indian Summer weather while noshing on homemade baked goodies. I'm just enough of a sickly curmudgeon to be irritated by them.

So, what did you guys do this weekend?

I cooked many meaty dishes, using my crock pot. I guess a vegetarian, I'll never be. The miracle of slow cooking never ceases to amaze me.

Get some antibiotics,girl!!!

Weird that I posted yesterday and it didn't show up. Hmmmm.

I'm rather fond of the Dalmation in this one. You know me and dogs. :)

I went to Cherrywood Coffeehouse for the first time and had cheese grits and listened to children sing.

Great photo. Love the color of the building. I first discovered Harvest Bread in Portland about 6 years ago. They're very big their. Didn't know they were a franchise until I saw one in Berkeley a couple years later. I too have sworn off wheat and have never been in there.

Sorry you're still fighting off bugs. This weekend I actually started to organize some files. Kept an eye on some college football as I did. Planned to stay at home and be lazy when a friend asked me if I was going dancing. Completely changed my agenda to see the Jive Aces a band from London. Every time they play in Pasadena, Toni Prima and her mom, Keely Smith, show up. They really are a good band and I danced part of my butt off. Keely and Louis

Sunday it was off to Fullerton to take my mom shopping and have lunch with her.

Reads like a weekly annoying Holiday Letter doesn't it?

They're very big there. (My fingers are no longer controlled by my brain.)

The layers in this one are great. What an interesting image. I can really see a bit of you in this one...

By the way, I'd be happy to help with your Great Harvest research anytime.

Oh, what a fabulous color shot of four profiles. I love the similarity between the girl on the left and the dalmation, both with their mouths half-open in eagarnes to...

Your title led me to anticipate one of your wonderful short stories, but not to be. Tomorrow you'll feel much better, bit by bit, before you know it, you'll feel good again!

REMEMBER not to do too much, too soon.

What did I do this weekend, don't remember!

Awwwww...Laurie girl!!! I had a cold/respiratory thing last spring that lasted and lasted and lasted...the only thing I can tell you is HEALTHY TRINITY!!! And lot's of it!!! (and a move to Mammoth couldn't hurt!) I had a chest xray and ct scan, antibiotics (which made it worse) the doc finally told me that respiratory problems have been worse and harder to kick ever since the station fire...

On Saturday the Hubman and I drove almost 3 hours each way to Cabela's in Reno, Nevada...yep, across state lines! (Now keep in mind that he's actually driven 5 hours each way to go to a Cabela's before!)
I bought my base layer...remember thermals...well, they're out, base layer or body armour is the thing to get now!!! It "wicks" away moisture!!! No boots though...the Hubman shopped like a girl and found all sorts of stuff!!! On our way home, we decided to get dinner in Minden Nevada, because we weren't going to make it to the Tioga Pass where we'd planned...we pulled into a Shell station to get gas, I looked across the street and saw...Tahoe Ridge Winery and Bistro! I said, "Let's eat there"...we did...and we had a fabulous dinner!!! A fun day all around!!!

And Mr. E...I think I'll include this in my holiday letter...what do you think???

I came over to see how your doing health wise, but after reading your ready to exit via a sledge hammer. . . well, that doesn't leave much more to say (except I hope you get better real soon) yikes

You are such a talented photographer and writer. Thanks! And keep 'em coming.

THanks for all of your good wishes -- and Scott, you are too kind!

There is some addendum to Murphy's Law which states that the moment you make a doctor's appointment to look into why you're still sick, you start to immediately feel better. I'm definitely joining the land of the living again, but it seems clear that I had two bugs one on top of the other and, well, those bugs should be ashamed of themselves.

I appreciate all of you!
