That's a boot scraper for the Jolly Green Giant. Up here in the land of snow and mud, many houses and most businesses have a device outside that allows visitors to scrape snow and mud off the bottom of their boots. I guess this would be useful for very large people on a rainy day.
I couldn't begin to top dbdubya. That's a good one. I have seen those boot scrapers, but I don't know where. We don't have a lot of winter but our summers are doozies.
In December of 2007, after many years on the west side of Los Angeles (and at least a third of those years spent stuck in traffic on Pico Boulevard) my family settled into a happy little house in South Pasadena. If it's not a boot scraper, surely it's a handle that the giant can use to open up her secret underground jewelry safe.
