Remembering my Friend

not insomnia exactly

(if I walk these sidewalks late enough
the ones you loved
the ones where you plucked the red hibiscus and wore it in your hair
perhaps I'll brush against the starfired edge of your memory
it lingers
certainly
as you linger
always always
in the night of me)

a waking dream
you are there

and yet I walk alone.

That's beautiful: "in the night of me." I just love it.

And you're a poet, too.

You ended up with the talent of three people. This is perfect.

Thank you, everyone.

Pat and I became friends in early October and I always think of that first night drinking Baileys and trying to brainstorm ideas for a client. After I moved to South Pas, she loved Garfield Park and the winding sidewalk path around it.

Thanks for being kind about such a personal post.

Until tomorrow, gang.

I'm a little late on this one.

I knew immediately who you were writing about. Yes, really poignant and so very beautiful.
