When was this building built? It wasn't until recently that anything from the 50's was referred to as mid-century modern. I don't know how it was described earlier. Perhaps:
50's giant style the new moderne sleek and square no frills 50's
I love the glass blocks. Remember "sputnik" clocks?
Smashing! Love your blog so much. I spent three years in South Pasadena in the hills and still miss it. I loved all of the modern architecture there. You really understand the nuances and special treasures of the place. Thank you!

This daily blog covered almost 5 years as I put down roots in my new home town -- and almost 5 more as I settled in and became a South Pas old-timer. Here it is...my time capsule of South Pasadena.

If it's a giant's house, does it have a "people door"?
As a little one, I always thought this (and several others of the same genre) were built for the Lakers players.
tho I would then ask...do they open the door with their toes---considering how low the handles are!
Gotta love giant doors. Reminds me of the doors to Emerald city in the land of Oz.
And of course, I love mid-century modern.
That's the retirement home where Anthony Perkins went after PSYCHO.
