Does anyone else see a robot face besides me? His nose is a bit off kilter and he has some long ear hairs growing out of one side. HA!!!

If that is next to Gus's, the wood building is where my friend used to record Dr. Dimento's show back in the 70s.

I listened to that radio show in the fifth grade! On AM radio!

Dr. Demento is really Barry Hansen. He started out in radio and became a A & R guy for a record company, which is what he did when his Dr. Demento show was going on. He has a very large collection of records.

The show went into syndication in 1974. For at least a couple years, Barry would record the show at a studio in South Pasadena behind Gus's, and it was mailed out the the subscriber stations around the country. My friend is a recording engineer and it was his studio. Hansen would record the lead-ins, and then they'd put in the songs, make space for or add the commercial, and mail them out.

I listened to Demento mostly in 1974-1976 in San Diego, and in the early 80s in LA. At the DooDah parade a couple years ago, there was a large section of seats saved for him.
