Alternate Monday Plans

Some summer days beg to be spent indoors curled up in a sunny window, in front of a fan, near a sleeping cat. (A good book helps.)

Is that a real rotary phone, and do you use it? The alarm clock: I have one of those! My mom had it and I used it all through high school. It has a light that flashes instead of a sound alarm. Still have it, though the motor stopped working several years ago. The flashing light was a killer to wake up to. I think it taught me to anticipate alarms and wake up before they go off. The only other one I've ever seen was in the move Pee Wee's Big Adventure.; June 28, 2010 at 5:44 AM

Earl, this phone is a repro -- Pottery Barn, I think -- but with a great old-timey bell ring. There is something weird about having a 110 year old house with an electronic phone ringer. The clock is one of the moon clocks you know about. Love that light!
