That's more beautiful that words can say...definitely worth a thousand words on this one. Ours are late bloomers - lots of nice ones in Long Beach & Torrance. I wonder if it's just too cold still up in PV.
Now I know what Purple Haze means. Ever stood on Mulholland looking over the San Fernando valley? Whole streets are delineated in purple. Isn't this a lovely tree?
I planted a 15 gallon jacaranda tree in the backyard 15 years ago. It now rewards me with a beautiful spread of lavendar flowers. It's a late bloomer and hasn't flowered yet, but I know I'm in for a show pretty soon. They are a beautiful, if messy tree. You've captured them very well in this shot.
It's amazing how all the jacarandas popped out in the last few days. I'm not usually one to get hay fever, but something has my nose stopped up and me sneezing.
Wow, an amazing site to see these trees lining a street. The ones in Arizona have already shed their blooms. I've never seen so many together and with so many blooms. Gorgeous.
Mother Nature sure was happy when she created these. WOW - so beautiful. I wish I were there to walk the streets and look up amidst their lavenderness!!!
I am glad to say that I have been witness to these divas in their purple organza ball gowns. You have to see 'em to believe 'em. I don't know of a more showy tree, unless you want to include crepe myrtles. But jacarandas take first prize. I think that I shall never see, a lovlier purple passion tree......with apologies to Joyce Kilmer.
One of my favorite sights!!! I love the jacarandas in bloom!!! And it's interesting how they're all on a slightly different time schedule, with each group blooming together...the ones that line Canada Blvd in Glendale will bloom in another week or two, the ones on our street will bloom about the same time...or even a little later...who knows why?!!!
These purple babies have really exploded with blossoms in the last couple of days. If you drive down Monterey into San Marino you will get block after block of color. The picture above was taken in Monterey Hills -- I think on La Fremontia (sp?) but i'm not sure. Aren't they great?
The jacaranda trees are definitely one of the things I miss most about living in Los Angeles...those, and the giant spreading magnolias. New York has some pretty blooms, and does cherry blossoms very well, but nothing like those purple-lined streets. Beautiful picture.
In December of 2007, after many years on the west side of Los Angeles (and at least a third of those years spent stuck in traffic on Pico Boulevard) my family settled into a happy little house in South Pasadena. This daily blog covered almost 5 years as I put down roots in my new home town -- and almost 5 more as I settled in and became a South Pas old-timer. Here it is...my time capsule of South Pasadena.

Gorgeous. This has to be one of the most beautiful of flowering trees. I've had one in my garden for years but so far no flowers! Grrrrrrrr
I will never, ever tire of your jacaranda trees. Glorious color!

Beautiful Laurie, I was waiting for a local blogger to post a jacaranda picture!

I thought of a chorus line when this first came up - all lined up and flouncing their skirts in unison.
I certainly picked the right time to come back and visit. Beautiful Laurie, as always.
Is this color real? Nothing like this in Michigan!
WEll all I can say is, "WOW!" Thanks for that purple shot LA! Gawgeous.
