If you look at the smaller arched window to the left, you can almost see a Victorian woman sitting by the window. Perhaps it is her studio above, or it's just a window in the attic, filled with memories and antiques. The shape of the portico is different!
Is this the "Minister's House" on Columbia? I took a Sierra Club tour looking at those big houses. This one looks like the minister's house that used to house... I can't even say it... I'll just say a large keyboard instrument often associated with church music.
Why is the screen door to the balcony open? Why is the rain gutter on the left side of the balcony porch hanging loose, yet still connected to the downspout? Who is the mystery woman in the window Judy noted? This is the house of unanswered questions.
WV: ackne - the reason the woman is hiding inside the house.
Diana, welcome! You and several others who emailed me didn't catch my hamfisted attempt at a simple play on words. Anon caught my drift but my email box was filled with concerned readers who corrected me.
I was referring to the roof peaks in a twist on the old peek-in-windows phrase and it made everyone think it was a typo or that I didn't pass 5th grade spelling.
Back in my ad writing days this would have been a headline that wouldn't get a pass by a client!
The victorian woman sitting by the window was reminiscing about the romantic trysts she enjoyed with her lover in her little hideaway in the attic...
Actually, he just left through the screen door on the balcony...in rather a hurry...then while climbing down the peaked roof over the front porch he tore off the gutter...all because the victorian woman had a touch of ackne...
Oh, and by the way, it was on the fourth of July...and her husband was riding in the hometown parade!!!
In December of 2007, after many years on the west side of Los Angeles (and at least a third of those years spent stuck in traffic on Pico Boulevard) my family settled into a happy little house in South Pasadena. This daily blog covered almost 5 years as I put down roots in my new home town -- and almost 5 more as I settled in and became a South Pas old-timer. Here it is...my time capsule of South Pasadena.

DB: Why is the Fourth of July?
Because it's the fourth day in the monty of July. It comes after the third and before the fifth.
I like your play on words with the headline today. That roof has some interesting peaks to peek into.
isn't this one of the early greene/greene works?
Doesn't look like a Green and Green to me, but I think it's a well-known house.
Hey gang,
I am not sure if this is one of the G&G designs, but it is neighbors with several well-known ones. I'll post back with what I find out.
Until tomorrow...
Lovely house, but how about "peeking," unless you're referring to the roofline?

For the record, I understood your headline!!!!!
You misspelled Peking. ;-) Notice the Chinese influence on the roof lines? Really.
Mr. E...you make me laugh!!!
You've been writing some catchy titles lately. I like this one especially. Caught my eye and made me look twice.
