Freckling the Windowpane

Remember how I mentioned that I like poetry on rainy days? How about this one, by Eve Merriam:

Weather

Dot a dot dot dot a dot dot
Spotting the windowpane.

Spack a spack speck flick a flack fleck
Freckling the windowpane.

A spatter a scatter a wet cat a clatter
A splatter a rumble outside.

Umbrella umbrella umbrella umbrella
Bumbershoot barrel of rain.

Slosh a galosh slosh a galosh
Slither and slather a glide

A puddle a jump a puddle a jump
A puddle a jump puddle splosh

A juddle a pump a luddle a dump
A pudmuddle jump in and slide!

This is so painterly!! I love the soft blurred colors created by the wet stuff.

We finally have a clear day. I hope to take advantage of it, as it's supposed to start raining again tomorrow afternoon and be icky and cold the rest of the week.

It's hard for me to wax poetic when the whole world seems mildewed and the rainy days are cold. But I do appreciate your poetry, Laurie, and the song from Shanna, "Just Walking in the Rain" by Johnnie Ray. I also listened to the accompanying song, "If I Had You" which seemed also appropriate. "I Could Turn the Gray Skies to Blue......."

Your photo is wonderful, Laurie, and so colorful. I know that you must be as tired of the rain as we here in Austin are.

We had a blue sky yesterday, a promise of one today, before we are wet once again.

Ah Spring!!!!!!!!!!

Cute! Bet little bit likes it too. Such a pretty picture -- the kids look like mushrooms.

That photo! The walkers on the bright yellow sign heading left... the walkers in the crosswalk heading right! The way the neon yellow sign announces that this shot is all about walking!

And in the rain... great shot great mood great art.

Painterly...it totally works!!! Ditto, ditto, ditto!!! Very fun picture...the bright colors really bring out the California in this rainy day setting!!!

There's been a lot of mud damage with this storm here in the foothills...numerous houses have been destroyed and many are still in danger from the overflowing debris basins. Please keep the residents of the foothills in your hearts and prayers...
