Inland...
Day melts into night as civilization ebbs and swells. Looking west from Arroyo Drive at dusk often yields exceptional views, but if you stop and listen, the cars on the freeway below sound kind of like ocean waves. (Unfortunately, this concrete sea has different sirens.)

The palm trees behind the power lines look like notes on a musical scale.
I don't understand how this photo can feel so lonely with that lush, orangeade sky. Maybe it's the telephone pole standing so alone, like a sentinel.
Or maybe I need a bartender who remembers how to make a screwdriver!
Great photo, Laurie: the composition, color, musical notes that dbdubya sees and feeling of loneliness, as Yak said - all contribute to the powerful and poignant impact.
Hey Laurie,
Beautiful sky and thoughtful words. Just stopped by to say hi. Now I must get back to looking at the lake and the distant shore where we're staying in northern Michigan. Beautiful pinks and purples, even greater reflections in the water. So peaceful.
So peace friend,
DD
I had to come back for another look at your juicy, orangeade sky!
"Different sirens."
An extraordinary play on words.
Thank you so much my lovely friends!
Double D, I'm honored that you took time away from your vacation to check in! Hope your stay is fun and inspiring.
DBDubya, you get the gold star today! I didn't see the musical notes, and now that you point them out -- wow! SOmething Chopin-esque by the look of them...
Until next time, people. (Yak, I wish I had one of those screwdrivers!)
Smog noir?
Where the hell was I that day? This is absolutely fabulous. Probably going to make it my new desktop image. Sh*t!!
