Another night at the library...

"So the America I loved still exists," Kurt Vonnegut said in 2004, "if not in the White House or the Supreme Court or the Senate or the House of Representatives or the media. The America I love still exists at the front desks of our public libraries."

And the library I love, here in South Pas, deserves yet another monochrome portrait, as it twinkles in the night...

And rightly so. Great one again L. I like Kurt's quote as well. You always find the right words!

Love the Vonnegut quote and the image. You've got the monochrome touch!

You keep pounding on my heart: Vonnegut, library, b&w, fifteen hours of Bergman.

There are yet so many films I haven't seen or even heard of before, books I haven't read. You think a library is a quiet place? What about all those words screaming out from their pages? Titles grabbing at my sleeve as I try to get by the 979.4931, not to mention that the 808.81 and so on, are easily escaped. I won't even venture into 810, 820 or 860 after nightfall.

The paintings of Leo Politi are in the childrens room at the South Pasadena library. I own a book on his paintings of Bunker Hill.
Judson studios did a series of stained glass windows based on the dewey decimal classification system for a Los Angeles library. Not sure which one.

I miss Kurt Vonnegut. Our libraries are better than they were before he came along and contributed his genius to them.

That pic looks spooky, LA.
I hope you had a big loyal guard dog with you that dark night.

Vonnegut. Wow, that has been a while. Where did I put those books.

The library is one of my favorite places. I allow myself at the end of the visit about an hour just to explore and find something new. Serendipity.

Hi all,

Miss H, you and I are definitely from the same tribe, my dear!

PA, I haven't scheduled a time to take pictures inside the library but I really want to highlight the artwork and glass.

Steve, Vonnegut is a favorite of mine, too!

Thanks for being here, everyone. Til next time...

This has a huge voyeur feel to it. I love the arched windows and the glare from the far off lamp post.
