Sleepwalking

You never know what you're going to find when you walk around South Pasadena. Beautiful historic homes? Check. Towering trees? Check. A random canopy bed in someone's front yard? With balloons? Check.

I love this town!

I'm fairly certain this was a leftover item from the street-wide yard sale on El Centro yesterday... but then again, one never knows.

Right now I need more sleep than walk.

Your SoPas is looking nearly as eccentric as my Willits, there. I hope it wasn't some wedding night prank.

E and Saretta made me laugh. I can't even conjure up another scenario so I will go with theirs. Laurie you sure can find em!

This reminds me of a story I heard. In a Jewish wedding, the bride and groom are married under a canopy called a chuppah (pronounced more like huppah). The canopy symbolizes the home the couple will create together. One time a lady said, "Why don't there just put a bed up there on the altar?"

Or maybe it was just a fun slumber party. HA

this is wonderful. I like the person balancing out the baloons and their pop of red and orange breaks up the color scheme - you'r good, kiddo.

It's a flower bed.

Throw in some eggs and you've got a bed and breakfast.

Laurie... leave it to you to capture this magical moment to share with us!

Looking at the angle of the light, it seems like you shot this very early in the morning... or is it just all that luscious shade that filters the light into a morning cast?

Do you bring your daughter on your photo forays? I can imagine her as an adult, talking about how her Mom's way of seeing the world shaped her own vision. She will either be a poet or a JPL scientist!

I see Oscar Meyer has cast a hex on your town. I knew his presence was a danger to decent people.

Is the Weinermobile here forever?

I have a lot to catch up with my reading of your blog, Laurie.

This is really a curious thing. Why would anyone put a bed(?) and baloon on their yard? :D But as you said, it's Passadena!

The palm trees lining up that street you posted yesteday look grand, Laurie. I also like the photo of that staircase. Your angle, the light, and the railing ornaments make a wonderful composition.

Your post & photo have made me laugh out loud and my family is now wondering what's wrong with mommy....when I see this bed adorned with the balloons somehow I'm reminded of the movie "Bedknobs and Broomsticks" and think this bed somehow decided to make a landing in your neighborhood.

Either that or someone's having a very interesting party there! :)

Maybe they wanted to answer the age-old question: "Does your chewing gum lose it's flavor on the bedpost overnight?" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_57kUEdgCiU

Forgive me, in meant "its" not it's.

Ha-ha! I'm so late with a comment that I might as well just crash on the bed.
I love AltHik's "flower-bed". Mr. E., I'm proud of your correction - I'm always on a lookout for that error & I'm an ingeneur.

Hi kids,

Well, I can't add much to all of your clever responses! The bed was gone today...maybe it flew off like Hope suggested...

THanks for being here. Til tomorrow, everyone!

Oh I love this. So glad you captured it before it was gone. Such fun, such fantasy.

Haha! I wonder if there is something to be said for the fact that I find nothing out of the ordinary in this photo?

: )

Seriously, very nice catch! Like an old Monkees episode.
