You could feel the hope and determination at the Rose Bowl Aquatic Center yesterday as dozens of San Gabriel Valley kids practiced their strokes and imagined their own gold medals.
I swam 7 laps this morning, followed with a steam bath, and I feel great! I first learned to swim at the age of 8, and I'm still learning and practicing in my older years! The Olympic swimming competition is sooo exciting.
A little known fact...I used to teach babies how to swim when I was in college...we taught water safety...they learned to hold their breath and kick their way to safety...nothing quite like spending all day in a pool with lot's and lot's of diaper clad babies!!!
In December of 2007, after many years on the west side of Los Angeles (and at least a third of those years spent stuck in traffic on Pico Boulevard) my family settled into a happy little house in South Pasadena. I went to a friend's daughter's swim class today. One whiff of the over chlorinated water and I felt right at home. :)
