Love Bug

Sometimes I swear I have an art director who goes ahead of me and sets up perfect scenes like this one. I couldn't resist a little iPhone filter magic. Here, I just pointed, shot, and processed the image through the MoreLomo app. (You all know how much I love the free spirit of lomography!)

Update 7:50AM:
Just heard about an event of note:
Everyone head over to our pal Pasadena Adjacent to learn about a fun Garvanza area party/fundraiser TONIGHT! Benefits go toward filmmaker Jake Gorst's production of a documentary about Antonio Corsi, one of our region's weirdest and coolest characters. (He was an early 20th century art model, a silent film star and a true bohemian. Learn more here. )

I just love VW bugs. I learned to drive stick shift on a 64 that my best friend had in college. I like the angle, giving it an uphill (diagonal) feel!! That lomo filter couldn't be more appropriately applied.

Thanks Laurie - rumor has it that the 2012 Doo Dah Queen may honor us with her presence.

Our friendly neighbors to the east - Come visit us on the other side of the York bridge. Our friend Corsi most likely spent time on your side of the bridge too. He was the model for the bronze soldier in Pasadena's Memorial Park

I learned to drive on a '61 VW...drove it to San Diego and back throughout my college years...had my first accident in it (my brakes went out and I couldn't stop at a light...hit the car in front of me and totally crumpled the front of the VW..the other car was completely unscathed and I think the guy rather enjoyed being hit by a bouncy high school cheerleader in her cheerleader outfit!)

I had a VW Bug too. !968 auto shift. I bought it from Katie Iver. Granddaughter to Highland Park's Iver's department store up from Franks Camera. Across the bridge, down on Fig next to friendly Garvanza. Home of the Tuesday night food truck (99 cent store parking lot) gathering.

Come to the benefit for the history - stay for the spaghetti. I'm bringing red cabbage, date pellets and gorgonzola salad. Laurie recommends it - she "likes" me

Wish I had heard of this sooner. Great project.

I really love this photo. There is do much filter retro crap out there (instagram much?) that I rarely see great use of the style. This really looks like a vintage shot.

Thanks Green Guy. We met our goal though. Laurie - Jim and Shanna came as did the 2012 Doo Dah queen
