I knew you would know the name of those trees. Jim and I took an afternoon drive yesterday and saw these golden trees with the gold all around on the ground. Sooo autumn-like. The light was wonderful too. Then we went out for a glass of wine and a fire at a local favorite hangout.
Ditto Anon. Ginko carpets make me homesick. Especially when I recognize the street and homes. You were aiming between the old Latimore house and Chrostowski house on Santa Teresa standing near the corner of Los Laureles aiming at Camino del Sol. I spent many a Fall day running, riding, playing thru those yellow carpets.
Laurie--sorry, I grew up there, habit of IDing stuff---memories abound. If you turned around from that spot, looked up the street, there is one tree that is much smaller and less developed than the others (or, at last count it was)due to a drunk taking it out probably 15 years ago now. I used to stare at the old one from my window while growing up here.
While it is no longer the same place I grew up--I am just glad that Little Bit gets to grow up in that same town. Do me a favor---take a walk thru the leaves and shuzz thru them with her.
In December of 2007, after many years on the west side of Los Angeles (and at least a third of those years spent stuck in traffic on Pico Boulevard) my family settled into a happy little house in South Pasadena. This daily blog covered almost 5 years as I put down roots in my new home town -- and almost 5 more as I settled in and became a South Pas old-timer. Here it is...my time capsule of South Pasadena.

Thank you Charlie's Coffee House for hosting my photo exhibit, South Pas: Observed. From October 2011 through January 2012 my pictures graced the walls of the best place in town to get a cup of coffee!

A perfect day!
This looks good, but the purple tree is simply amazing.
Both are nature at its best but the purple jumps out at me more as it's so unusual. A great comparison post though!

amazing.
Oh my! This makes me so homesick for the Altos.
I'm with the others. This is so beautiful, and it too makes me homesick.

One thing I miss terribly living in the desert is the changing leaves. Beautiful shot.
Purrdy. I like them both.
My mother used to say, "Money doesn't grow on trees." It looks like ir here. But this is something money can't buy....simple gold beauty.
So pretty. I just love it.
Thank you so much, everyone!
I adore these trees. (and kudos to Trish for IDing the location!)
I'm working in a fall colors series. Stay tuned!
