It's a gate-crashing week here at Glimpses. Join me as I turn my camera on some of South Pasadena's more interesting gates.

When you can't see past it, it has a much more menacing feel. Loving the long shadows. ;)
TWELVE GATES TO THE CITY
Where is this?
I believe it's on Grand Avenue.
I went to my first SPEF party at this house. It's a beautiful Italian villa with gorgeous gardens. It used to be a much larger piece of property, but many years ago it was subdivided. It's still one of the finest homes in South Pasadena.
ditto what Mr Earl and DBdub said---Grand Ave. BEAUTIFUL house. Great gate too. If I ever had to pull over on my bike on the way home, I'd always prefer to stop here.
You need to stop by my casa. I've become a bit of an expert on creating boundrys between neighbors.
I'm jealous Mr Earl and DBDYUba.
I love this gate theme. I have seen this wall and this one and wondered.
Thanks DB for letting us know what is back there.
Grand Ave. My neck of the woods back in the day.
Well....
Uhhh. I think I found where this shot was taken and it may actually be Pasadena proper.
It's on Columbia St just a tad west of Grand. ON THE NORTH SIDE of the street.
But it looks like it's had a make over since the Google Maps vehicle surveyed the area. New paint, the drain pipe looks newer..
The steps are new are so is the gate..
I just love your weekly series.
It's okay if Laurie gives us a border shot! That street has another gate on the South Pas side of the street from one of my favorite old homes. I think some fashion designer lived there. It might have sold recently. I love to ride my bike over here.
You caught me, guys! This one is actually in Pasadena proper... But we can look at it while standing in South Pas.
Green Guy, just wait. The Richard Tyler house gate will be featured this week. :-)
PasadenaAdjacent, I want to know more!
Oops, I goofed. I thought this was the Richard Tyler house. That's where we attended the SPEF party. It was the first of 9 we attended. They've since moved them to the golf course where there is unlimited attendance. Before that they were held at various estates in town. When the party was at the Tyler house, I was near the registration table when the then-mayor and his wife approached. He introduced himself and said he needed to pay. The volunteer told him it was sold out and he wasn't on the list. He responded, "But I'm the Mayor." The response was that it didn't matter, without an advance ticket, no entrance. The Mayor and his wife walked away dejectedly.
WV: prolly - you prolly could have gotten in if you'd bought your tickets before tonight.
