It's a shame that someone swapped concrete blocks for wood in this historical Oaklawn fence, but you can still admire the handpicked river rock in the pillars. I like your b&w choice for this shot.
I can see this as the opening shot for an old episode of The Twilight Zone. Rod Serling's voice is about to speak.
I love stone and rock work. Look at the angles mixed with the irregularity of those rocks!!
I hate those concrete blocks but love the original rock.
lovely old shot.
I believe the blocks were installed as a "preservation method" when the wood kept rotting out and and quake fix. Sad. Perhaps a scout project to faux paint the blocks is in order?
What a strange wall/fence. We are seeing so many unusual fences today. Yours in fascinating, Laurie.
Did anyone post a photo of a seedy-looking guy selling televisions, iPods, and cameras out of the back of a truck?
Oh, give me land, lots of land, under starry skies above
Don't fence me in
Let me ride thru the wide-open country that I love
Don't fence me in
Let me be by myself in the evening breeze
Listen to the murmur of the cottonwood trees
Send me off forever, but I ask you please
Don't fence me in
Very interesting picture. I hadn't noticed the concrete before.
