School Daze

Last week, South Pas students headed back to school. This week, I muse about it over at my Patch column. (Make sure to watch the video. You might just spot your child in it!)

It should post some time after lunch today -- unless I'm officially tardy. (Don't even get me started on how many notes my poor mother wrote to excuse me for being late to class...)

So, what do you remember most about school?

I remember in high school the throngs of students going in both directions after the bell let out. I was kind of in the middle of the popularity bell curve, so when I'd spot this cute guy who WAS popular, I'd make sure I said hello and just about faint if he answered back, saying my name.

Tell Miss R to keep a look out in the mail slot for a green envelope with her name on it. A little back to school treat. ;)

WELCOME BACK!

Went over and saw the new library and gym at the middle school. The gym is so big that the high school will be asking to play their games there!

I remember it well. Also, when you moved to L.A. at your tender 20s age, I wrote you an excuse for anything that could possibly go wrong in your life to keep you covered. Last I knew, you had framed it. However, having your own little one allows you to, "pay for your raisin'". You will see.

what I remember about this particular shot? Taking a music class and a "health ed" class in that building---both from the same teacher who must have drawn the short straw on the health ed thing.

Mr Earl---you mean they FINALLY got rid of the old gym that smelled like 1932 sweat and was big enough only to play 1/2 a game of basketball in on either side--boys side or girls side---what did they think we needed, a mechitzah to climb rope?

wv: I'm not kidding---judayzm rotflol!

I wrote so many of my own tardy and sick notes that I'd have to tear up my mother's when I really was tardy or late, because her signature was not on record.

First day of school -- did Little Bit go off with all sorts of very cool school supplies? Which makes me wonder -- what are today's very cool school supplies?

This shot reminds me of the Glendale High School tower that was torn down during the summer between my sophomore and junior year...during my junior year the rest of the school was demolished while a new one was built...many of us were present when the tower fell...it was a sad day...I still can't stand the "new" building!!! The old one had so much more character...
