Saffron Diffusing

I noticed the glow of these two as they seemed to blend right into their golden background. Then I happened upon this poem:

A Life's Love Song

As the sun-beams with amber tinge shine
Through the sheaves that responsive are glowing,
Thy heart lends a glad hue to mine,
In Love's golden bloom ever growing.

Thy radiance with Love's ripening powers,
In the gleam of warm glances alluring,
Endows me with fruitage and flowers
Of a sweetness and fragrance enduring.

O Love, may thy vital rays glow
Like the sun-beams their saffron diffusing--
All thy tints on my being bestow,
My life-growths forever suffusing!

-- Henry O'Meara (1848-1904)

(I'm going to be bummed if I find out they're just friends...)

Love your photos! Great perspective. This one would be perfect for Mellow Yellow Monday-- if you play the memes!

Saffron's mad about me
I'm just mad about Saffron
She's just mad about me

So how in the heck do you "happen" upon a 19th century poem that goes right along with your photo again????? You amaze me girl. Great shot.

V: Wasn't Saffron Rice a kick returner for the 'Tide?

Mellow Yellow...brings to mind the California environmental mantra of the mid 70's and early 80's, Governor Moonbeam's poetic gem:

"If it's yellow, let it mellow.
If it's brown, flush it down."

I love that you're always able to find a poem or lyrics to match your photo.

Thanks, everyone!

Jan, I didn't know about Mellow Yellow Monday. Cool!

Judy, Earl and Db... I now have both songs running around in my head in a crazy mash-up.

Virg, I'm a freak. I read 19th Century poetry for fun.

PA, saying it makes me happy, too!

Chieftess, I never knew the origin of that little rhyme. I first heard it from some hippie friends in Boulder -- when I asked to use their bathroom!

Natalie, thank you! Any excuse to post other people's brilliant words...

And thank you all for YOUR brilliant words today. Also, I'm now having email troubles -- many people telling me they are emailing me and I'm not getting the messages. (Neither is my overzealous spam folder.) I have a query into Yahoo, but I might not get their response! :-) Add this to my AT&T voicemail goblin and I think I may end up the only neo-Luddite blogger in town. If I can't get the mail problem solved, I'm going to switch to another addy. I'll keep you posted here.

Until tomorrow...
