Night Puddles

It rained yesterday. I just had to go slogging through the soaked grass at Garfield Park last night to capture those wet sidewalks. As usual, the resulting image makes me think of a poem -- this one by Langston Hughes:

Let the rain kiss you
Let the rain beat upon your head with silver liquid drops
Let the rain sing you a lullaby
The rain makes still pools on the sidewalk
The rain makes running pools in the gutter
The rain plays a little sleep song on our roof at night
And I love the rain.

(I also thought of this great one by Bukowski...)

Interesting shot Laurie. If you handn't said where it was, I'd be scratching my head.

Oh geeeeez. This is just too fabulous for words. The luminous metallic sense of the sidewalk and those glowing orb lights. WOWZA. That poem is just divine. I could think of a million rain song lyrics, but I'll just let your mind wander. :~)

Happy Saturday!

In California, rain always makes me feel transported to another world. I love that feeling, and this photo captures it. The curve of the sidewalk and the companion slant of the lawn make this wet neighborhood look like it's sliding away.

Too bad about Bukowski, though. In heaven, Langston Hughes shines Charlie's shoes...

I like the bright sky which I assume is from the lights of Pasadena.

This is my very favorite photo of yours. It startles me every time I go back to look at it.

And Bukowski, his poem more of a story, really. Such imagery to go with your image. Tops.

Thanks, people. I really appreciate the kind words. I've said it before -- I am always so grateful and thrilled when you like an image that means a lot to me. (And any excuse to post a great poem is a joy!)

Til tomorrow, everyone...

Well I'm a fan as you know of your night time monos.
After rain is a perfect source of reflective light. I'm having a week of pure images from today. Love your thoughts.
