Hard-boiled Doors

Come on in -- there's nobody in here but me and a big bluebottle fly.

Oooooo, reflections and shadows . . . and a porch light on in the daylight and fab quote! 505 may portend to something as well. Love your shot Laurie.

What a great find! The tile roof reflection is terrific.

Great film noir shot. Love the way the reflections of the Spanish tiles appear different in each window.

IS it just me or does the reflection look like a fly's eyes?? Or is that what you meant by the quote or.................

Ah, this gave me my first smile of the day.

Not that it relates, but wasn't 505 a Levi's style?

The fact that it's black and white adds some Chandleresque mystery to it.

A simply perfect post.

Thanks, you guys!

Virg, your girl misses you, too! (And so does her mom.)

Anon, I'm pretty sure 505 is still a Levis style. Anyone else know?

As for the fish eyes in the window, I saw it too. But I saw it AFTER I thought of the Chandler quote. Those Spanish tiles reflected in those old doors (with the sad sign within) made me think of every Los Angeles noir story. (And I think I love them all!)

I appreciate the kind words, guys.

I remember The Fly Virg...both of 'em!!! Vincent Price's black and white version in the 50's and Jeff Goldblum's version in the 80's...

Love the film noir look of the photo...and yes, very Chandleresque!!! I just finished reading The Big Sleep...my favorite line..."The minutes passed on tiptoe."
