South Pasadena Skate Park
Here's a fun vantage point I just discovered...
If you drive along Arroyo Drive and pull over right before you get to Mission Street, you can gaze west and take in a gorgeous sunset. But if you look down the embankment, you'll get a great view of the South Pasadena Skate Park. Our thoughtful city planners even put a couple of benches there to make it comfortable for taking in the whole scene.

Oooh! I like the action figure suspended among all the graphic lines. Yay planners!
I thought it was a statue at first when I looked at the the thumbnail.
Very well captured. Laurie!!
Excellent photo! And the colour choice is magnificent! Cheers!
Our city just built a skate park. It is always busy with skate activity. Good to see to them outside enjoying the day.
WOW! I like the bird-eye angle view and the moment you captured here, Laurie. It's a great capture!
What eki akhwan said!
Plus, I adore the one bright spot of color, the red cap your skateboarder wears, symbolizing his vivid love of flying free.
Nice action shot!
"Our thoughtful city planners even put a couple of benches there to make it comfortable to really take in the whole scene."
Or take a nap. LOL!
I love how you caught the skateboarder in flight!
Bonjour Laurie,
Yep, a fun vantage point while discovering your blog and city with great interest and pleasure.
This jump sounds pretty scary for me!
Great action pic! This skateboader looks like a bird ready to land.
A bientôt.
Yah! Airborne!
They're much safer in the park than on the city streets where they might be hit by traffic...or run over a pedestrian.
At first I thought this was sepia print - looks great.
Stupidly, we don't really have a skate-park culture! There's plenty of skaters, but no facilities for them!
I hope you don't mind but I'm going to add you to my blogroll - just give a shout if you object!

They made it perfect for taking a great shot, too, Laurie.
really amazing vibe to this image...
the dusty, non-showy color scheme, the obliviousness of its protagonists, the community/americana feel of the subject... its really great
this is the kind of CDP post i love, the kind that almost transports me into a town.
thanks :)
If I have to look at another skateboard park photo today I'm gonna be ill!
Great photo - love the tones, the action, the shadows.
Hello folks,
Blognote, ming and Dorothee -- welcome!
Thanks so much for the kind and generous comments, everyone. I was really excited about this shot. The skater was really good, and I loved his bright red had which was visible even from my perch high above the park. YOu all know how it is -- you're never sure if the picture you got will be as good as what you saw. I was so pleased that this shot truly captured the moment. I love it when that happens!
Scarlet, I'm thrilled to be added to your blogroll. Thanks!
Wayne, you crack me up. (I hope everyone saw Wayne's skater pic today. It's much more dramatic than mine!)
Thank you for being there, everyone!
I didn't even know there was a skate park in the area! Very cool shot.
I do not understand how the skate sticks on them on feet
You nailed it. I see scarlet is here.
She was has stuck with me throughout and keeps me in touch with the music scene.
This is so good, Laurie. The action of the boarder plus his shadow. Plus all the other lads in the photo: the lads practising their baseball swing and the other kid zonked out of the bench with his faithful hound. All good later afternoon activities.
Hi, you explained the topic very well. The contents has provided meaningful information thanks for sharing info.
