Today is my birthday! So here is a photograph that includes many of my favorite things:
a library
at night
with exquisite vintage light fixtures
and arches
and dark wood columns and ceiling box beams
and a wistful afterglow
captured by sneaking up close after hours
climbing stairs
and aiming my camera through a beautiful wood paned window...

Happy Birthday!
A very evocative photo, and I admire your favorite things.
Happy Birthday!
That's quite a library.
Who was it that said the photograph tells more about the photographer than the scene? Happy birthday.
South Pasadenas library is one of the nicer ones architecturally.
May you have a Happy Birthday and your life filled with love, health, and happiness! Hey, now youre old enough to drink! Right?! :)
happy birthday! thanks for sharing.
Happy birthday, Laurie! You and I have many favorite things in common.
Steve, I like your comment. :)
THanks for the lovely wishes, everyone! I adore birthdays and I'm truly shameless in announcing to when people it's mine.
Petrea, yes we do have a lot in common. (But then again, I've been lurking on your and Ben's sites for months now so I feel like I know all about you! :-) )
Steve, whoever said it was right, huh?
Finally old enough to drink? Twice over! (Plus a couple of years.) Didn't you know? 44 is the new 21!
At 44 what does that make me? A happy day for me too! And you always did like libraries. When you were in elementary school I was there to pick you up and you were not to be found. Until I found the library. I remember you saying that you wished you could read all the books within. What a girl! Happy Birthday! Enjoy! With special love from Your Mom.
Happy 30th Birthday!!
A special day 4 sure.
And I also have to assume you're a volunteer at the local library.
First, my apologies for a bit of cut and paste commenting. I have been doing the rounds via Bloglines and looking at all the pictures from my favourite photo blogs, but haven’t been leaving comments. Generally, I try to comment as much as I can (I know how good it is for ‘morale’ to know that someone is out there appreciating them), but after the birth of my second son, I am a bit knackered to think up something witty and insightful on the hop. Thus the resort to Control+C and Control+P!
Kris from Hobart, Tasmania.
Oh no, I'm a day late! I hope you had a wonderful birthday!
"Didn't you know? 44 is the new 21!"
LOL! I have something similar written in my other blog — about me being a new-twenties woman — and I discovered that some people hadn't heard about it yet. ;)
A very happy birthday!
What a wonderful image and caption - I can see why these are some of your favorite things.
