After seven Tour de France victories, Lance decided to start an escort service.
(Actually, I've used this lock service many times over the years, the most recent when OSH told me they didn't have a key that fit my door, although I'd bought one there just a few weeks earlier.)
The scaly, crumbling facade of this building is a cover. At night, when everyone in the area is sleeping, the vampire angels who appear and disappear through this convergence point light their lamps, clink their crystal, and make their plans bathed in radiance.
Vampire angels are those who were sent by heaven to oversee innocent children. Upon arriving on earth and seeing through their angel eyes how children have become the prey of the sick and twisted among us, the protector angels became avenging angels and refused to return to heaven. Now, to help the children they love, they prowl to find the human predators, and drain them of the energy they misuse.
God believes in free will, so he allows the vampire angels to do their thing. But he keeps sending them angel messages, always with the same words:
Mister Earl, when I jumped in earlier I was so overtaken by Yak's vampires, I didn't respond to your Lance Armstrong scenario. That really cracked me up.
Cafe, I like your take on it, too.
Pasadena Adjacent, this really would be a good spot for a Greek restaurant. Wait, was there actually one there at some point? The Armstrongs sign looks like it's been around since Ancient Greece. (I love that sign, by the way.)
Michael, that's great!
Altadenahiker, I get that feeling, too. And here I thought it was just me... :-)
Farmgirl, you snarkmeister. West side? Ha!
Dbdubya, I've debated about whether or not I would like this corner as much if it were renovated. I kinda like the run-down, peeling paint. But then again, I'm weird like that.
Judy, since when don't you play along!?
And V, girl, I hope you read my comment on your blog. How could I not get creative when you are playing my favorite game?
This is a fun game too, kiddos. Thanks for the cool captions. Sometimes, I just draw a blank. (Especially if it's too late at night and my child has been in full-on fuss mode...)
In December of 2007, after many years on the west side of Los Angeles (and at least a third of those years spent stuck in traffic on Pico Boulevard) my family settled into a happy little house in South Pasadena. This daily blog covered almost 5 years as I put down roots in my new home town -- and almost 5 more as I settled in and became a South Pas old-timer. Here it is...my time capsule of South Pasadena.

Come on Yak, weave us a tale. I'm completely blank today. :~)
Used storefront, needs TLC. Free to a good home. Inquire within.

"On earth, as it is in heaven."
When you come to So Pasa 4 your vacation you must visit some of the ruins of the old city.
What does Yakpate smoke? I want some. I am so sorely unimaginative all I could come up with is ....
"Open, but not".
BTW, my post has Laurie written all over it today.
Bring Yakpate with you .
V
I want some of whatever Yak is on, too!
Vampire angels? And to think, I believed people would equate this image to a bad economy...
:-)
Open 24 hours...but it's up to you to figure out which 24 hours!
I would like to entitle this photo
"R Turns 18"
*sigh* I am soooo glad I moved to the Westside. I can't imagine why anybody would live in South Pas, it is SO FREAKIN BORING!!!!
Armstrong: We're happy to help you out, we're just not happy to have you in.
I liked you better when you were a greek restaurant.
Hi everyone,
Mister Earl, when I jumped in earlier I was so overtaken by Yak's vampires, I didn't respond to your Lance Armstrong scenario. That really cracked me up.
