Viewfinder

I've received a lot of email lately from former South Pasadena residents asking for more shots of the mountains as seen from Monterey Hills.

As you wish!

It doesn't take much arm-twisting to trek up and point the camera out at this view. And for those of you who live far away but still think of South Pas as home ... this is for you.

I can understand why people would get homesick for this. It's a magnificent view!

It is a view and a half as we say here. Worthy of the trek. Honestly we are with your every step, albeit virtually.

That LP by the Mamas and the Papas was the first full sized 33 1/3 vinyl album that I ever bought. I knew the words to every song! Stunning and nostalgic music to go along with this beautiful mountain view. I love how clearly visible the purple hills are with the wispy white clouds scattered throughout the sky as if someone with a paintbrush just swept it across here and there. That palm in the left grounds the shot. Great composition, Laurie.

What Judy said!

Also a nice segue from your fantasy micro-world of yesterday to the infinite view seen here. My eyes feel exercised... my heart feels grateful!

Ohh! We get to make requests? I'd love more photos like yesterdays so pretty. And how about a portrait gallery of my favorite people in South Pasadena: The Crossing Guards.

What a glorious view! By the way, I gave you an award so check out my blog from yesterday!

Yes, as Babooshka says it must have been well worth the trek - in fact, that's obvious to anyone who is just looking at the photo! I love the plants you have there - to a person who struggles to get their flowers in order with unpredictable cold weather, it's refreshing to see exotic plants thriving!
Ciao

Plein air painters love to use purple for the mountains, and now I see why.

You captured the beauty and the reality of our mountain views.

Let's go back to the discussion from a couple of weeks ago about power poles/telephone poles. How many saw the power line crossing this photo when you enlarged it? I'm guessing very few saw it because we are so accustomed to them that we block them from our consciousness. Power line? Telephone cable? Who cares?

I'm having a hard time figuring out where you were when to took this photo, Laurie. It's facing northwest I believe, but I can't place it or identify the white stucco building with the tile roof at the bottom of the hill? Is that building on Monterey?

California Dreamin' for sure. I never get enough of that cerulean sky and those wispy clouds over purplish-blue mountains. Beautiful mountain view and that palm tree reminds us where we are today.

Hi guys,

Dbdubya, I can't honestly remember which windy little street gave me this shot. I know I started up Indiana but I forget where I twisted and turned. But yes, I'm looking down at Monterey.

Judy, I remember that Mamas and Papas record! And also Bread and Blood Sweat and Tears and, of course, The Beatles White Album. (But we'll conveniently forget about my Nitty Gritty Dirt Band 8 track...)

Margaret -- Crossing Guards, check. I'll get right on it! (They are wonderful.)

Scarlet, I used to think I couldn't garden worth a darn. Then I moved to Los Angeles where the plants just thrive in sidewalk cracks and alongside the freeway...

Leslie, I'm on my way over to your blog now!

Dixie Mom, this shot made me think of your paint colors. Those purple mountains...

Thanks, everyone. Until tomorrow.

"California Dreamin'" is probably (definitely?) my very favorite song (piece of music?) and has been since the first time I heard it. As a matter of fact, I put it on just last night, driving home from Trader Joes.

K, I love that song, too.
