Salad Dressing

Would you believe this is the second yard scarecrow I've spotted in the last few weeks? The first one stood guard over a well-tended patch of herbs in a ritzy Los Angeles neighborhood. And get this: it was wearing what looked like a Betsey Johnson dress. Nothing like a bad economy to give us new uses for high priced fashion. (I think it's a great idea. Frankly, some Betsey Johnson fabric prints scare ME!)

I noticed this less couture scarecrow in the side yard garden of one of South Pasadena's biggest mansions. It might not make the best-dressed list, but that's okay. Home-grown vegetables are always in vogue.

I guess the economy has got even the people who live in mansions growing their own vegetables. There's some healthy looking corn, rhubarb, tomatoes, and I'm not sure what else. And I think that's a mighty fine looking scarecrow.

Love Scarecrowella's outfit!

If Betsey Johnson scares YOU, that is saying a lot. Well, at least it will keep you out of her corn.
HaHaHa!

It's been soooooooo hot and I have been in so long I didn't realize that Betsey Johnson's fabrics are right out of Grandma's quilting party. And those prices!

I;m with dbdubya, How cool that mansion dwellers are planting gardens on their lawns... and that they have the wit and humor to dress a blond scarecrow in pink!

Maybe she's waiting for Dorothy to come skipping down the path with her red sparkly shoes, free her and they can both take a quick trip down to the Santa Monica pier and ride the carousel.

In So Pasa I hear they call these, Scarephotogs.

The link is terrifying.

I think it's adorable. And look at her corn! I'm envious.

I rather liked that Betsey Johnson dress myself. Am I weird?

Judy, you must take a quick look at the pink link to get the full impact. I'm all for skipping to the Santa Monica pier. That carousel is one of my favorite things.

I took a closer look at the Betsy Johnson dress on the pink link.
If the lower ruffle were black instead of yellow, it would look like something I would wear. At least when I'm not in all black.
We both must be weird, Judy.

Aren't there some neighborhood association rules against scare crows? Or just what they wear?

I liked Betsey Johnson in the 80s. I also liked big bangs, spandex bike shorts and earrings that looked like hubcaps!

Nothing like a good scarecrow to keep one company while gardening.
