Your blood may be orange, but mine is cardinal in color. One of my best friends was raised in San Marcos. His great-great uncle was second in command in Sam Houston's army. After a stint in the Marine Corps and 25 years in LA where I met him, he returned to New Braunfels. I know him as Sam which is what he went by in LA. His real name is Austin. He now goes by Austin. When I asked why, his response was, "Boy, when you live in Texas and your name is Austin, you go by Austin." He owes me several bottles of wine over various LA sporting victories over Texas teams. I lost a bottle though on the Rose Bowl when UT beat USC. I called him from the stadium when SC went ahead. Needless-to-say, he called me back when the game was over.dbdubyahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08462665006132459258noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4926759868384604174.post-79425388135475914282009-04-04T11:04:00.000-07:002009-04-04T11:04:00.000-07:00Dbw! And the correct phrase is "Book them Horns" When asked after the game how I felt about USC losing out on their third national championship in a row, I could honestly say that the streak was going to end some day and it's better to have them lose to the #2 team in a hard fought game. The Horns were perfect. SC made a couple of mistakes and UT Quarterback Vince Young had one of the greatest individual performances of all time.
