Welcome Anonymous! I'm glad I ...Hey everyone,

Welcome Anonymous! I'm glad I met you, too! Though, I don't know which you it is -- I met several really great people at the council meeting.

I'm working on a post with an update later this week about our situation regarding Chief Watson. More and more South Pas residents are learning about this and want to do everything possible to KEEP THE CHIEF! I expect that this story will break into bigger Los Angeles media venues soon.

Alex, I just love driving around the hills. When we moved to this side of town, Jon gave me a GPS for the car so I could explore to my heart's content and never worry about trying to figure out how to get back! (When you drive around a lot with a toddler, it's nice to be able to find your way home...) I can now say I know those hills as well as any South Pas native. And yes, Alpha is a steep one! I grew up in an area of Austin that was very similar. People always got lost coming to visit.

Thanks for the comments, everyone. Until tomorrow...Laurie Alleehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14460272282273523408noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4926759868384604174.post-46011770902623776482010-01-11T21:14:22.369-08:002010-01-11T21:14:22.369-08:00stunning as a movie set.stunning as a movie set.Ken Machttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09100185198750536244noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4926759868384604174.post-36686644622625252892010-01-11T21:08:16.086-08:002010-01-11T21:08:16.086-08:00It's only in retrospect that I realize how ble...It's only in retrospect that I realize how blessed I was to grow up in the Altos...what views we had. My parents still live up there, as do my cousins (on Alpha actually...the black mailbox to the left belongs to them!). Alpha is one steep climb, and I must burn at least 1/8 of a tank of gas to go up every time. And like most roads in Monterey Hills, it's also super curvy, and people who visit residents up there get lost all the time while trying to get out. Can't count the number of times a car has stopped in front of our house to say, "how do we get out of here?"

Like Trish, many of my old friends (or at least their parents!) still live on these blocks. Quite a few seniors and baby boomers live up there...their kids have grown, but they've stayed kaput:)alexhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01733102064925528814noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4926759868384604174.post-2610511605987466172010-01-11T19:23:28.951-08:002010-01-11T19:23:28.951-08:00Glory shot!Glory shot!Petrea Burchardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13043950465171821852noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4926759868384604174.post-84530929111209163692010-01-11T17:42:41.567-08:002010-01-11T17:42:41.567-08:00Can't believe it, but I used to sprint up Alph...Can't believe it, but I used to sprint up Alpha and a few other streets around town...back when the earth was cooling...when I was in high school and college.

Used to have a friend who lived almost where you were standing...a few scattered on Alpha...and a few on La Fremontia (how on EARTH I still remember the name of that street, I dunno).

such a clear day!

and lol on the mayberry/chief commentary. hope things settle down there in mayberry...one thing the council seems to forget, don't get the natives (or new natives) riled up.Trishhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12388261083998643091noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4926759868384604174.post-39652964286083358072010-01-11T17:01:21.598-08:002010-01-11T17:01:21.598-08:00Laurie: Are you suggesting that it's downhill...Laurie: Are you suggesting that it's downhill from here?Mister Earlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18405041951237611622noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4926759868384604174.post-8925966919715016572010-01-11T16:31:13.557-08:002010-01-11T16:31:13.557-08:00I'm learning that I live in Mayberry Chicago.I'm learning that I live in Mayberry Chicago.Mister Earlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18405041951237611622noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4926759868384604174.post-32937616239875395082010-01-11T09:43:39.036-08:002010-01-11T09:43:39.036-08:00When I don't get out in time to walk the trail...When I don't get out in time to walk the trails in daylight, this is my after dark walk.
