Your stories are so interesting. (And I think I might have gone to one of your parties back in the day.)

Chieftess and Mister E, the first Mohawk I ever saw was on a Hawaiian kid in the 9th grade. It was like you guys described. (I had a huge crush on the guy. The next year he grew his hair out to shoulder-length shaggy glory at a time when all the boys were into frat-boy military cuts. All of my friends swooned. None of the guys liked him.)

The most extreme I ever got with my hair was a Dorothy Hammil haircut when I was 11. Oh, I suppose you could count my giant hairsprayed bangs in the mid 80s. His name was Dick Hicks, and he had one of those real mohawks that Chieftess was talking about. It was a crew cut, but it came to a peak in the center. He didn't stay at our school more than a year.Mister Earlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18405041951237611622noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4926759868384604174.post-80820730934486007962010-02-20T16:41:58.063-08:002010-02-20T16:41:58.063-08:00I relate to the 80's art bands (such as DEVO) ...I relate to the 80's art bands (such as DEVO) more then the punk movement which I never saw as being particularly homofriendly.

My 80's share is our studio gallery we girls ran pre-Mr V. We gave a show to Tomato Du Plenty called Whores, Sluts and Tramps. And you dressed as one of the pre-mentioned nouns. It was the first time I saw men wearing chaps without underpants....and the paintings were even more shocking! I loved the 80's (and Tomato eventually introduced Mr V to his childhood love Vampira).

Tonight I'm off to a gallery opening that I can guarantee will lack that kind of snap crackle and pop.Pasadena Adjacenthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09031325790590238246noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4926759868384604174.post-16823004330602076652010-02-20T16:10:04.561-08:002010-02-20T16:10:04.561-08:00I remember back when I was in the 6th grade...and ...I remember back when I was in the 6th grade...and of course interested in boys...the guys who played little league baseball had to shave their heads for the season... A couple of the guys had their heads shaved with a mohawk for a couple of days before they did the final shave...we all thought it was pretty cool back then (we're talking the 60's here...)... Of course, it was their normal hair in the mohawk, no dye jobs or long tresses slathered with "product"...I do believe "cool" began in the 60's!!!TheChieftesshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00153059825142977202noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4926759868384604174.post-85354216332204443642010-02-20T15:33:41.751-08:002010-02-20T15:33:41.751-08:00You really have to be dedicated to the upkeep to h...You really have to be dedicated to the upkeep to have a mohawk, I imagine.
