Time Out

Due to unexpected events, I will not be updating Glimpses of South Pasadena for the foreseeable future.  Thank you for over 4 years of daily exploration, discovery, friendship and fun.

I appreciate the support of the over 900,000 people who have taken the time to visit this blog.  The experience changed my life.  I hope to be back again at some point, if not here then in another online incarnation.  Until then, thank you all.

Laurie

It's been a fun ride, Laurie. You've changed the face of South Pasadena in so many ways. It was here that I met a character named Dbdubya, which eventually led to some much needed changes in the city. Your photographs and writing, and stories about life have added much to our lives. And you've made some great friends and introduced so may people to each other through your blog.

Love ya,

Earl

The sad news is you need to take a time out from here to take time to ck out your health. The GOOD NEWS is you will be back writing & shutterbugging!! It's part of who you are. You will do it again, one way or another! Good luck & see/read you again soon, LA!

Very sorry to hear. Always enjoyed seeing the views of our town from the artistic perspective. If you do fire things up elsewhere, post a notice on this blog, so it comes up in the feed. I'll be waiting. Have a good, healthy break.

I'm one of the many people who have enjoyed seeing bits and pieces of our little town through your camera. I'm sorry I didn't write sooner but I wanted to say thanks for the inspiration, and best wishes to you and your family. See you around town...

I know you wouldn't stop blogging unless something serious came up and am alarmed to see other comments regarding your health. I hope you and your family are okay and wish you the very best for a quick recovery.

Your blog is a wonderful place in an internet where bright spots are few and far between. You'll be missed and I hope to see you here again, happy and healthy.

Sounds like you're facing some serious stuff. Good news is, they've knocked one thing off the block, on to the next question. Hoping your hiatus is short and you're back to living life fully as ever.

Know that you're in our thoughts and prayers.

Remember to keep breathing. In. Out. Repeat as necessary.

Add me to the cheering section. I feel guilty that this is my first comment when I have lurked daily for years. You are an incredible photographer and writer. Thank you for everything you have done and GET WELL SOON.

Oh Laurie. Your wonderful eyes! Here is a prayer that they figure out what's going on soon and you are back snapping away with your camera. Much love from Gretchen.

Laurie, you are loved and prayed for all over South Pas. Come back when you can. I'm so sorry you are going thru this. Can't even imagine facing vision loss. Know that you are loved. I hope you get some answers soon. And GOOD answers.

Laurie,
You introduced me to the world of blogs. You helped the Chieftess become a better photographer and taught her about blogging. You supported me at a time when it meant a great deal to me. You've opened my eyes to parts of South Pasadena I didn't no existed. And your photography and words have inspired me.

Take care of yourself, my friend. I look forward to your return.

Laurie, I don't know exactly what's going on but I want to thank you for this awesome blog. I think a lot of people take you for granted because we just log on every day to something wonderful and don't bother to comment! (Guilty here!) I am sending good wishes and wanted you to know like precious poster said you offer a bright, beautiful spot on the Internet and you have immortalized South Pas with your observations and photos. Come back when you can.

Don't know what to say except thank you for the many glimpses, the thoughtful words and sweet sentiments bundled with them.

I hope whatever misfortune you're dealing with passes quickly and you come out on the better side of it.

Every day I wake up, grab my iPad and check Glimpses like I have done every day for 3 years. I keep forgetting you are no longer updating.

I am sure I'm not the only one who feels like something is missing without your posts. You have really made a difference in my life with your art and I just wanted to let you know.

I hope you are doing well.

Good God, Laurie. I just heard and checked your Twitter. I can't believe more people haven't commented here given the huge impact you have had on South Pas. This blog serves as an incredible artistic tribute to and historical record of our city. I was there when Mayor Ten awarded you the Image for this accomplishment and it was so well deserved.

I am thinking of you during this awful time and wish I could help. Please check your email too.

Wow, I missed all of this. I went back thru twitter so I congratulate you on the good MRI results. I wish they could figure out why your eye decided to stop working right.

I have loved Glimpses since I first found it back in the beginning. You have no idea how many people love your blog. A lot of us are lurkers, so I feel bad that this is my first comment. I hope it goes thru because I don't know how to leave a comment.

Looking forward to your talent again SOON I hope. Here or back at Patch or on your new LA blog.

Hi- just needed to chime in & say how missed your blog will be. I lived in S. Pas back in the very early 70's as a child. They were magical years for me. We lived in what was considered the "haunted house" before we moved in cuz it was in such bad shape. I remember there was a fireman's pole thru my bro's room. My mom said all the ladies in town came to a Tupperware party she threw just so they could see what the inside looked like. I have loved seeing my town again thru your eyes. I will send you well wishes and strength- I'm a bc survivor and just know you will survive and thrive too :). Have faith.

I just wanted to check in and tell you that you are missed. I am devastated to hear your vision loss has gotten worse and you have no answers. I am praying for you. What a talent. What a good soul. Your hilarious Tweets prove that you are one he'll of a woman, even facing this awful health mess. I just know God will spare your eyes. Please know you are loved and missed here and at Patch.
