That ritual sacrifice (everyone but Mr Earl read the first half of your Bible), took place in the bell tower. At one point, when the sanctuary was still open most of the time, there WERE dead chickens left on the altar. A Reverend was thought to have committed these acts (proven ~25 years ago? during a period of scandal). But no one was allowed in the bell tower, to my knowledge, other than the Sexton. This of course, lead to more rumors.

Even having spent a number of years running around St James, I'm not sure I could lead you to the access for the bell tower. Those ladders in the tower look as old as the church...am not sure I'd want to use them to service the bells. The bells WERE in use into the 1980's, via a remote control garage door opener type clicker.

But...I like your concept better...bats...Quasimodo...humnn, certainly sounds plausible!Trishhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12388261083998643091noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4926759868384604174.post-76133718317007361112010-07-15T16:28:16.042-07:002010-07-15T16:28:16.042-07:00I was thinking Tom WaitsI was thinking Tom WaitsPasadena Adjacenthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09031325790590238246noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4926759868384604174.post-74787360707802904052010-07-15T08:49:52.951-07:002010-07-15T08:49:52.951-07:00judy, you'll notice that Vertigo was my second...judy, you'll notice that Vertigo was my second link.
